3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 11/30/12
Aroma: The nose has some chocolate malts, roast, and a pretty good amount of vanilla
Appearance: This beer pours a dark brown color with a small beige head and almost no lace
Flavor: The taste has even more vanilla then the nose, with the other malts moving into the background. It comes off rather sweet, with a little roast, chocolate, and just a hint (of hardly noticeable) bitterness.
Palate: It is medium bodied, though itís quite sweet, its not particularly sticky, but it does feel a little too fizzy
I thought this was a pretty decent one. Considering that it is from Leiney, I wasnít expecting much, but it turned out alright. Itís a little too sweet and a little too fizzy for me, but it has some nice components. Decent stuff, not great, but it exceeded my expectations.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sample at Tap Room, I would never give any money to this brewer so I was glad to try a sample. Notes of nuts, cocoa, vanilla bean, roasty malts, and some other misc grains. Very easy going. Honestly for Leinenkugel, this thing wasnít a total piece of crap.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle pours a dark brown with small tan head but little lacing. Flavor is initially of roasted malts before the vanilla overpowers anything else that might be present.. 6 oz. of this would have been more enjoyable for me than 12. Body is thin to medium with lively carbonation. I was hoping for more of a porter and less vanilla extract.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured a very dark brown with a hint of red. Small head. Roasted nutty aroma with caramel. Some vanilla. Taste has lots of vanilla with nuts and cream. Carbonation a little high. Maybe too much vanilla, it dominates the flavor. Finish has some nice caramel flavors with a touch of coffee. Overall not bad, but too much vanilla.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black, no head. Faint aroma of vanilla and chocolate. Taste is vanilla and chocolate, plus some odd tart notes that seem kind of out of place. Iíve had worse, Iíve had better...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a dark walnut brown with ruby highlights and a thin tan head. Aroma is nutty sweetness and roasted malt. Flavor is dark roasted malt, caramel and vanilla lingering all the way through the finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation and an almost syrupy mouthfeel. Itís a good seasonal if a bit overpowering with the vanilla.

This is the beer of choice if you get snowed in. The slight hint of vanilla goes perfect with a winter fire.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brownish black. Smells of roasted malt, dry hay, and coffee bean. Taste is malty, coffee, toast, and mildly sweet. Over all the other flavors and smells there is the added vanilla which seems artificial but I dont mind it. Very smooth bodied and drinkable brew. Reminds me alot of Leinenkugels Creamy Dark or 2 Below from New Belgium.
