2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Dark, nearly opaque, brown with a small, tan head. Butterscotch, burnt toast, and syrupy notes. Sweet up front, with roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, sticky, and a little grainy. Overall, this a lackluster porter; not unpleasant, but it lacks complexity and has a weak flavor and mouthfeel.

Draft at red robin eau Claire . Sweet roasted malt aroma with a strong vanilla profile. Clear dark brown body. No head or lace. Very nice smooth palate with a really nice vanilla flavor. Not strong or harsh. Very easy drinking. Other than perhaps a little more strength this is a good beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very deep mahogany colored beer when held against the light. Thin beige head. Nose of vanilla extract. Very big vanilla extract flavor with a little bit of the chemical/artificial taste that I get in some of the vanilla porters, it is not too intrusive. Some caramel sweetness, milk chocolate, and faint roasted grains, all of which are coated by the vanilla. As is warms there is some burnt caramel corn notes. Not a bad use of vanilla in beer.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Dark amber brew, color of root beer. Clear. Off white head. Aroma of vanilla, ethanol, roasted malts. Taste is sweet malt, roaste dmalt, a little chocolate, some vanilla and maybe a little licorice. Nice profile of burnt and dark roasted malts, but a little too sweet. Vanilla is a little over done, IMO. But quafffable and fine on a cool December eve.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is toasted and sweet with light but definite chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and adjunct malt. The appearance is red brown with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall easy to drink but nothing special, pretty much a macro.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a beautiful ruby/brown with a khaki/brown head. I don’t detect any discernible vanilla in the nose, just milk chocolate. The prevalent flavors are milk chocolate and a sort of mocha/french vanilla coffee element. It is smooth/silky in the mouth, a respectable chocolate/vanilla porter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt and soft vanilla aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted vanilla sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were met.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
December 13, 2012 on tap at MKE airport. Seemed to be a brown pour with limited head. Aroma was roasted malt, sweetness that seemed to be a combo of vanilla and lactose. Taste was consistent with aroma, mostly roasted malt but got had a little vanilla in there and was creamy, maybe even slightly nutty in the finish. Not bad, much better than their regular offerings.
