Leinenkugel’s Snowdrift Vanilla Porter is a robust and velvety addition to Leinenkugel’s seasonal selection. This porter-style beer is aged on real vanilla to reveal rich layers of caramel, coffee and chocolate that is ideal for the season.

Tap. Nice tan head quickly diminishing leaving no lacing. Dark brown with a reddish tint in color. Smooth drinking, thinner beer but creamy taste. Light aftertaste but perfectly balanced. A dark beer that I could drink all night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Started out with such potential. Nice brown amber color. Decent head and some lace. Aroma, was wonderful. Oaky vanilla. But the taste was a let down. Blend of favors was really good just weak and watery.

Bottle. Pours a deep, typical porter brown bordering on black. Very crisp hoppy bite at first taste with chocolate coffee vanilla finish. Not as heavy a one would think given the color. Very good porter! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big on flavor but still headache material. As with all their lagers they seemed to have a certain aspartain flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma has roasty vanilla with a touch of grassy/straw notes. Flavor has dark chocolate...chalky tootsie rolls...with some roastiness and light vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is roasty with dark chocolate...vanilla fades in this one after the initial aroma and few sips.

I was excited to try this one, but kinda tasted like a regular stout with artificial vanilla. I did enjoy it thought pretty good.

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a small-sized, very short-lived, beige head.

Smell: Slight chocolate, modest roasted malt, and the namesake vanilla.

Taste: As with the smell, it’s more of the same -- some chocolate, caramel, mild roast, and the vanilla. Sufficiently sweet. Slight earthy, not quire bitterish tone midway. More of the same through to the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation. Reasonably smooth, slick mouthfeel overall.

Overall: Snowdrift comes across as the Creamy Dark but with some vanilla additive added.

People love to bash Leinies and I was slightly afraid of this one that Fireside was undrinkable still have a few bottles full from last year I need to throw out...... Was scared this would be thin Smells good tasty, Cocoa coffee first sip great Very bock like or milk stout like rather than porter. No harshness of a normal porter here. Just milky smooth dark and rich. Did not get much vanilla here and that was probably for the best. Nice full bodied dark beer Leinies has made up for taking the 1888 bock off the market. A nice surprise hope it sells for them or it will be pulled next year for something else. Will be buying a few more six packs to get me through the winter and into bock season Nice job Leinies.

Thin mouthfeel. Almost vanilla minty aroma. Doesn’t taste natural, if it is aged on real vanilla beans there is also vanilla added. And i doubt it is aged on vanilla beans. Brewed with the house lager yeast which is a bad choice for this style though some lager yeasts can be used.
