2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hard to justify this as a porter. More like a brown ale. Deep dark reddish-brown hue that lets light through. Pours thin with a large foamy cream colored head. Thin lacing. Overall pretty easy to drink of you like sweat vanilla lead with malty finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown with red highlights and a very large tan head that is partially diminishing. Great lacing - thin yet even. Vanilla bean hits you foremost upon the first sniff, though it is quickly replaced by roasted nuts and lightly charred coffee. Mildly roasty flavor, balanced between bitter and sweet, with the vanilla nearly (but not quite) hidden underneath mild coffee, toasted grains and nuts. Medium bodied with a soft, fine carbonation. A rather easy drinking porter, perhaps a bit light on heartiness, but tasty and accessible.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. Deep chocolate color with a lasting film of sticky cream on top. Nose is light berry, a touch of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Taste is a bolder version of the same pleasant mix, with the vanilla taking the lead and a touch of ash on the finish. Medium body is to the sweet side, but not sticky and really rather drinkable.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cola looking beer with a white head. Weak aromas of roasted coffee. Tastes of watery coffee, some dark chocolate, cola, and very little vanilla if any. Finish is bittersweet coffee That is pretty much it, a bit one dimensional. Unoffensive, but quite bland. I wouldn’t really recommend this beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle thanks to Roy at work. Pours deep mahogany with a medium collapsing beige head. Aroma is initially worty for a brief moment before doughy bread, vanilla and Christmas spices reveal themselves. Taste is initially sweet before turning bitter mid-palate and remaining that way through the long finish. Vanilla is strong in flavor, yummy. Body seems a little thin. This is quite a tasty little beer.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep brown with a very nice creamy, dense, tan head. Aroma has a mild nutty nose, light chocolate, light vanilla with some bitter coffee notes at the end. Chocolate malt and vanilla really compliment each other in this brew. Light coffee notes come in late but add only a light bitterness and dryness to the brew at the finish. The malts worked pretty well in delivering a light caramel sweetness with a modest amount of toasted malt kick. Body is surprisingly thick with very fine carbonation to deliver the flavors and aromas. Overall a surprisingly good brew. Brew has the right amount of sweetness balanced with a solid toasted and light bitter malt note. Good winter brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 11/30/12
Aroma: The nose has some chocolate malts, roast, and a pretty good amount of vanilla
Appearance: This beer pours a dark brown color with a small beige head and almost no lace
Flavor: The taste has even more vanilla then the nose, with the other malts moving into the background. It comes off rather sweet, with a little roast, chocolate, and just a hint (of hardly noticeable) bitterness.
Palate: It is medium bodied, though it’s quite sweet, its not particularly sticky, but it does feel a little too fizzy
I thought this was a pretty decent one. Considering that it is from Leiney, I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out alright. It’s a little too sweet and a little too fizzy for me, but it has some nice components. Decent stuff, not great, but it exceeded my expectations.

Sample at Tap Room, I would never give any money to this brewer so I was glad to try a sample. Notes of nuts, cocoa, vanilla bean, roasty malts, and some other misc grains. Very easy going. Honestly for Leinenkugel, this thing wasn’t a total piece of crap.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is slightly oxidized malts and vanilla. The flavor is vanilla, oxidized malts and an acidic/oxidized finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle pours a dark brown with small tan head but little lacing. Flavor is initially of roasted malts before the vanilla overpowers anything else that might be present.. 6 oz. of this would have been more enjoyable for me than 12. Body is thin to medium with lively carbonation. I was hoping for more of a porter and less vanilla extract.
