Bottle. The look is clear, dark, reddish brown in color, and has a light tan head. The smell is roast, malts, vanilla, sweet, and ok. The taste is super vanilla sweetness, malts, some roast, and eh.

Beers just fall into place sometimes. This one did for sure. You see dear readers, the other day my Wife decided to continue doing work outside even though she had tweaked her knee earlier in the day. The end result of this was that she blew out her tweaked knee and injured the other. Great, I thought, now I will have to finish the work outside, and abandon all the great basement projects. I was only partially correct. Not only do I have to cater to the crippled Wife, I was sent to the store yesterday with a list. Yes, intrepid readers, me with a list, at the store. As I assembled the listed victuals, I like any self respecting male tripled the order with items seldom seen in my household. As I was searching for the last item on the list..."diet tooth paste" I found myself standing in front of the refrigerated six pack section. This was the only beer that didst look to be total crap so I bought it. Consumed during the microwave shelf installation project last evening. I believe that this may be my longest preamble to a beer rating to date. Bottle: Consumed directly from bottle. A strong sweet nose of sweet dark malt and a hint of vanilla. Body is slick and long lasting. Chocolate malt and milk swirl. Body seems to have two levels of increasing sweetness. Vanilla and a touch of caramel appear about half way thru the "sweet experience". Finish is abrupt. A decent sweet porter that barely stands apart from the rest.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small head. Faint smell of sweet vanilla in the nose of this. Taste has some strong roasting to it, which I didn’t suspect. Faint bit of vanilla underneath. Not what I expected...

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is of some roasted malt, maybe some vanilla and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is about the same. Decent roasted malt to start then a trace of vanilla. Finish is bitter malt with some caramel. Really needs more of the vanilla.

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a solid black. Not much aroma. A nice lacing of head on the top of the glass, and has nice retention. The taste is full of vanilla, especially when served at a warmer temperature. This beer is very flavorful compared to other Leinenkugel's brews.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Looks like a porter should. Smells sweet. Has a roasted taste, with hints of vanilla. Robust for mainline leinenkugels.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smoked malts and vanilla aroma. Copper caramel body. Poor taste of fake smoke and vanilla, tastes like liquid favoring.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not bad for leinenkugels, really appreciate the high alcohol percentage. A Lil lacking in the taste, gets better as it warms up imo

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught @ Curley’s Pub: This one pours a fairly opaque, dark brown color. There was a small tan head that left a little lacing. The aroma isn’t bad. Definitely has vanilla on top, but it is not too strong. Also has notes of chocolate and coffee. The taste isn’t bad. Vanilla, espresso, chocolate are dominant. Not much else. Medium bodied. Just a touch sweet. Not a bad brew at all.
