Leinenkugel’s Snowdrift Vanilla Porter is a robust and velvety addition to Leinenkugel’s seasonal selection. This porter-style beer is aged on real vanilla to reveal rich layers of caramel, coffee and chocolate that is ideal for the season.

Nice dark brown pour with a small head. Caramel and roasted malt on the nose. Flavor matches, wasn’t really able to pick up any vanilla, but it’s not bad as a porter by itself.

Poured from a bottle. Very little head and lacing, but delicious rich Brown color. Great aroma, almost more coffee than vanilla. Bitter dark chocolate notes as well. Yummy.

From the bottle...smooth and creamy flavor...I enjoyed it. It was different, with hints of vanilla

I do like this porter. A good roasted flavor with a hint of dark chocolate. Smooth. On the lighter side.

Purchased this last winter and just found it in my stash. Dark brown with a touch of red color and a small fizzy tan head. Sweet caramel, vanilla, and a little chocolate aroma. Flavor starts off sweet and slightly chocolaty which is quickly accompanied by roasted malt. Slightly thin, creamy palate with some carbonation. Aftertaste is malty and just slightly dry.

"Very disappointing aroma...little roast and even less vanilla. A little dusty. Look is ok, nice ruby tinged dark brown color. A little thin on the feel, and a little prickly. The flavor is more vanilla and roast, but slightly artificial. The aroma eventually opens but is the same. Let down."

Transfer from BA review on 2-2-13- Poured from can into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a deep brown color with a ruby red hue seen shinning through when held up to the light. Upon pouring there is a two finger cream colored head. Over a moderate amount of time the head fades to leave a great amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of sweet caramel and vanilla. Mixed with these smells are some lighter aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, and some nut. Taste – The flavor begins with roasted malt and some caramel sweetness. Upfront there is a rather strong vanilla flavor which lasts throughout much of the taste. Flavors of cocoa soon some to the tongue creating a semi-sweet chocolate flavor when combined with the sweet caramel and vanilla flavors. The sweet caramel fades some however toward the end with a coffee flavor becoming more pronounced. In the end a lightly sweetened chocolate vanilla flavored coffee taste is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little on the thinner side with respects to creaminess with the carbonation being on the slightly lower side as well. While the lower carbonation level was very fitting for the porter style and matched the chocolate, coffee and vanilla flavors well, a thicker body would have given the beer a better mouth-coating feel. Overall – A fairly easier drinking porter. While possibly a bit heavy on the vanilla, the beer has a pretty nice sweet, but not too sweet flavor.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark hazy brown color with dark orange/copper tints along the side of the glass. The smell had a decent bready to roasty coffee notes with a light smoke and vanilla. The taste was lightly sweet and semi-roasty with a light vanilla rolling underneath here and there. On the palate, this sat about a light on the body with a semi-sessionable quality to it. The carbonation was actually fairly smooth with the same finish Overall, this was just okay because the flavorings in the aroma and taste didn’t really seem to show a real depth. Almost as if it was just thrown in and not necessarily blended that well. If anything, I do like the idea that they put out with this one.

A: Bready. There’s a lot of roasty notes, but there is something off about them; leather; smoke, tons of artificial vanilla. Almost like a vanilla coke. A:Deep reddish brown that shows a little light through the glass. Large frothy tan head that’s slightly marred by a "soapy" appearance. T: light sweetness, it’s really hard to get past the vanilla. P: light body, thin slightly creamy feel. The finish is somewhat drawn out but there’s not much there. The head lingers but there the beer is flat on the tongue. O: Slightly less than OK. I’m wonder what the base porter must have tasted like to get covered by all the artificial vanilla dumped on it . . .
