Mild coffee, french vanilla aroma. Blackened amber color. Taste mild roast, nutty malts, hint of vanilla. Boring. Watery brew.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 airrick2003 (170) - Louisiana, USA - APR 14, 2013
Appearance: deep dark maroon color, clear, practically black, thin tan head that fades quickly, laces poorly
Aroma: chocolate, coffee, kind of faint for a porter
Taste: coffee, chocolate, perhaps a hint of plum, not much bitterness, but there is some
Palate: lively carbonation, very faint bitter aftertaste that lingers for a bit
Overall: not much to this beer, it’s kind of a weak and uncomplex version of a porter, nothing too great about this beer
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Aholmb1 (19) - New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - APR 14, 2013
Appearance: very dark and but not completely opaque, there was a lot of head when first poured, after a couple of minutes the head is about half an inch.
Aroma: vanilla chocolate, roasted malt
Taste: chocolate taste is the key note, tinge of bitterness at the end, more flavorful at the end of the sip
Palate: bitterness lingers on the tongue afterwards
Overall: nothing quite special about this beer, tastes just like a regular chocolatey roasted beer, nothing majorly stands out, is not very complex in the flavors
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ADesenberg (302) - Ohio, USA - APR 12, 2013
Bottle: pours a dark brown with a tiny tan head. Roasty vanilla chocolate aromas and the flavor is much of the same. Wish there was more of a "bite" to the roastiness, but it’s still a decent beer.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JFGrind (1715) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 7, 2013
Neighbor was kind enough to offer a Snowdrift Vanilla while our kids were playing in the backyard. For a guy like him who drinks plenty of Lienenkugel’s Shandy this is a big beer. For me who drinks ’bigger’ beers, it was a drinkable porter like beer, with caramel malts and a kiss of chocolate.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strangebrewer (631) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2013
bottle. Poured almost black with a ruby hue and a creamy mocha head. Roasted, dark fruit aroma. Medium oily mouthfeel with tight carbonation. Toasted malt flavour with vanilla and coffee notes and a touch of smoke.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Brewdork (55) - Sanford, Florida, USA - APR 4, 2013
Pours deep brown with almost no carbonation and no head to speak of. Roasty aroma with caramel notes. Coffee and chocolate flavor with vanilla. Would have liked some carbonation, but a pleasing brew nonetheless.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Fratto (2326) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle from Kroger. Dark pour with a very small tan head. Aroma is vanilla and roast. Taste is too much vanilla, some alcohol, sickly sweet dark fruit, and ash.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerscout (266) - New Windsor, New York, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Bottle. Nice coffee and toffee nose with strong vanilla character. Dark brown color with reddish tint. Thick foamy light brown head. Lacing was heavy in the glass. Flavors of vanilla, coffee, and toasted malts. Rich, and sugary, strong flavor, but at times it came on too strong, as if it was artificial, but in any case an enjoyable beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 decaturstevo (4075) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 18, 2013
Brown pour with hints of red and off white head. Aroma is light roasted malt and vanilla. Flavor is sweet malt and alot of vanilla. Pretty dominated by a fake vanilla flavor. A tad of a sour finish. Medium body with ok carbonation. A roast malt bitter and a sweet vanilla finish. A beer I could but wouldn’t drink 6 of.
