3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GMurani (11) - - NOV 15, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours a solid black. Not much aroma. A nice lacing of head on the top of the glass, and has nice retention. The taste is full of vanilla, especially when served at a warmer temperature. This beer is very flavorful compared to other Leinenkugel's brews.

I would like yo come back to this after trying more porters. This was my first one. Now i like lot of what leinenkugals has for a beer line up. Though i don’t see that their widely available beer is anything to right home about. And maybe that’s how this porter is. It is drinkable. That being small drinks at a time. Strong notes of roasted coffee a zing of vanilla with a touch of dark chocolate. After taste not strong. Might be better with a cigar.

Bottle into Sam Adams Glass. Light Aroma, not too much of a nose. Color is a very dark brown, but not quite black. Head is a beautiful Espresso Orange/Black. Flavor is sweet vanilla, coffee and perhaps a smokiness? Definitely a great dessert beer, and one to give to people who don’t quite trust craft beer.

Bottle. Dark black pour with minimal head. Malty aroma with a hint of vanilla and coffee. Thinner porter, vanilla is present but not overpowering. Very drinkable beer that goes well with cold weather. Aptly named.

Very dark in color and dark head. Smells of chocolate with vanilla. Can taste a chocolate flavor, and vanilla. Very smooth texture. Not much of an aftertaste. Good beer.

Doesn’t smell great, but it is deliciously comforting. Love drinking this after a cold day outside.

I think for the price and in comparison to the quality of other their other products it was a surprisingly decent beer. It has a nice flavor with hints of spices that you would hope to find in a Winter seasonal. It perhaps isn’t as thick as some Winter beers, but it’s Leinenkugel’s. They make a good but cheap product (which is not to say this is a bad thing. This is theirs and many other breweries niche). I highly recommend at least giving this a try.

Coffee, roasty, no vanilla that I could taste. Not at all a smooth mouthfeel. It had little to no aroma. It poured a two fingered head that completely disappeared after about 30 seconds and left little or no lace on the glass

Overall... OK. The flavor profile is a little lack. Kind of a pill taste at the back of the throat. Again its OK but there are better vanilla porters out there.

I’m a hit or miss fan of the Lienenkugel brand, but I have to say this one caught me a bit off guard.
Aroma - pretty good aroma. Notes of vanilla and coffee blended with some real porter roastiness.
Appearance - Dark translucent brown with a quickly dissipating white head. Thin lace around the edge.
Taste - The taste is pretty stinkin good. The vanilla is layer in nicely with the coffee and roasted flavors. Sweet but not too sweet. Has a touch of acidity on the end but just enough to be appropriate for the style. It’s by no means a rich porter but still a very nice representation of the style.
Palate - Somewhere between medium and thin. It’s honestly thicker than I thought it would be. Sits heavy enough on your tongue to not feel too watery. Satisfactory for a porter and nothing more.
Overall - I’m paying a little over $7 a sixer where I live for this and honestly for your dollar you couldn’t do much better. It’s a very middle of the road porter. I’d recommend this to anyone who is buying on a budget.
