Draft. Dark brown/black with medium tan head. Aroma of malt sweetness, chocolate, and vanilla. Medium/light body, roasted malt, medium/heavy sweetness, strong vanilla, and a sweet finish. Too much vanilla and overly sweet.

From notes: Poured clear nut brown with a 1-finger light tan head. Aroma of nutty malt with some vanilla behind it that quickly takes over. Body is medium, and a touch watery, with a mild astringent tingle in the finish. Flavor is nutty, maybe touches of leather and butter. The vanilla is underneath, and lingers in the back.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark brown. Not much nose. Very watered down, but I like the vanilla. Other than that not much going on here.

Tap. Nice tan head quickly diminishing leaving no lacing. Dark brown with a reddish tint in color. Smooth drinking, thinner beer but creamy taste. Light aftertaste but perfectly balanced. A dark beer that I could drink all night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark black with light brown head. Has a faint roasted malt aroma, but not strong. A nice mixed taste of vanilla, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Aftertaste is similar to a vanilla latte.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: finger light brown head that does not last, dark brown to blood red color, good lacing, clear. Aroma: vanilla, roast, chocolate, very light coffee notes, citrus hops on exhale. Palate: full body, average carbonation, very bitter finish, oily carbonation. Taste: sweet caramel and vanilla with slight chocolate malt, into light citrus bitter finish, Overall, pretty drinkable, interesting hop choice for the style, but nothing amazing. Not bad at all either.

From a bottle. Aroma is roasty with some coffee and vanilla. Taste is roasted malts that are sugary with lots of vanilla. Medium body and carbonation. Not the worst winter beer, and not the best. Decently middle of the road.

Reviewed 12/15/2012. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very dark red color. This one definitely isnít perfectly opaque by any means. The head is a one finger light mocha shade that fades quickly to a thin collar around the ring of the glass. Lacing is minimal. S: Unimpressive. Slight vanilla-esque cream soda notes and a bit of hazelnut...and thatís it. T: Again, tons of vanilla and cream soda seem to dominate (inasmuch as itís the strongest flavor note), while the only hint of this being a dark beer is slight hazelnut on the back end. I can tell after the first sip the sweetness will really wear on me hard. But the worst part? The sweetness gradually shifts into a chemical sensation thatís kind of unpleasant. M: This features honest-to-God sugar burn, caused by the huge lingering sweetness and syrupy finish. Even worse is the intense carbonation, which creates an even harsher mouthfeel. O: Even as a dessert beer, Iíd call this one a mild failure. As a porter, itís more or less a total failure. The only thing it really has going for it is drinkability - if only to get the chemical aftertaste off of the palate as soon as possible. No regrets getting a single bottle (a tick is a tick, damnit), but I donít need to ever have this again.

From bottle in a pint glass. Pours dark grown with two finger head. Nose is roasted barley and vanilla. Body is medium to light for a porter. Taste is sweet with a little too much vanilla for my taste, not as balanced as I would like. One dimensional beer.

Vanilla aroma with some chocolate malt in the background. Taste follows suit, but mostly vanilla. Watery palate as usual with Leinenkugelís. Actually was a little better than I expected overall, though. Easy and pleasant enough to drink.
