Drank as the Split Rock Ale; Amber beer with a standing head. Stout malt aroma that's followed with a surprisingly fruity hop character. Pretty good.

I enjoyed this beer at Montgomery Inn Boathouse in Cinci. Slight aroma, quick head, but great copper color, and rich ale taste with hops. Had a few waiting to be seated, and another with the duck- was a great accompaniment.

Contract brewed by Leinie's for the Freighthouse Restaurant in Stillwater, MN. Was told by the server that the style is an "Amber-Pilsner", a style I didn't know existed. Sweet roasted malt aroma. Served in white plastic cup which makes appearance rating a little difficult but has a nice, white head. Pretty good flavor, cookie finish. German Dunkel notes. Roasted malt. Could pass for a session beer. But at several bucks a pop, you'd better bring some coin.

Surprising tasty. I was quite surprised to see it was a Leinekugel's product. Very pleasant, with a mild citrus flavor. Easy to drink. A relaxing beer.

I found this beer labeled as Ted's Pail Ale. This beer has a decent citrus and hps taste with a attractive cooper color.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2004 Labeled as "Split Rock Ale" - at the Split Rock Bar & Grill in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. Not a bad effort at an ale by a large brewery. Has a pleasant copper appearance - slight toffee aroma and a light white head that sticks around for quite awhile. Has a bit of a malty flavor with some underlying bitterness. The finish is just a bit metallic.

A nice beer to compliment your ribs at the Montgomery Inn’s Boathouse in Cincinnati Ohio! Good citrus and hops and a nice afterbite!

I drank this on tap at Husby’s Food and Spirits in Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin. The tap read: Emma Husby’s Ale (Leinenkugel Seasonal). I’m not sure whether this matches another Leinie product sold under a more common name, or whether this is a beer made specially available to (just Wisconsin?) pubs to sell under their own names. Whichever, it’s pretty good ale. I attended Husby’s with a Husby friend of mine whose relatives used to own the place, and by his flashing his credit card with the Husby name on it we got our first tap free. Not bad!

Had one on tap at the Boathouse. Was better than the Leinenkugel Dark I had before it. This brew is clear ruby orange copper. The average white creamy head is mostly diminishing, and has fair lacing. The too subtle clean nose is mostly citrus hops, with some perfume and flowers; some earthiness and spice is also present. The flavor is rich and balanced with the grapefruit and orange citrus flavor rounding out the middle. The creamy smooth body is light to medium with lively carbonation and has a light astringency to the finish. An excellent compliment to my meal.

Great draft to go along with Montgomery Inn’s excellent ribs. One of life’s pleasures is sitting on their patio over the river in the summer with a cold draft and a rack of ribs.
