COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The nose will enjoy pepper and gentle roasting aromas such as cocoa and bitter chocolate. After a crisp initial taste, the malt releases more gentle avours. The texture is dry. A subtle acid kick from the roasting aromas leads to the nale: toffee, toast and cocoa notes gently linger. Dominantly malty, slim, dry.

Draft. A slightly hazy amber beer with a lazing thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with lots of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as bread and a touch of alcohol. The sweetness makes it a bit cloying.

On tap. At "Lemke am Schloss", Berlin-Charlottenburg. Slightly hazy dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Sweetish roasted malt aroma. Medium body, sweetish roasted malt, a whiff of burned caramel and a fairly hoppy finish. A classical, straightforward and solid Dunkel. 080109

Chestnut body, off white head; Quite intense very chocolate roasted nose, not really complex very straight forward pleasant; Soft thin texture with roasted bitterness, slightly sweet, quite pleasant; Long finish with full roasted chocolate aroma and quite thin texture. Interesting beer, very drinkable, the pilsner like body mixed with all the roast is very nice.

JoeinDahlem (1437) - Berlin, Berlin, GERMANY - OCT 27, 2008
Draft at brewpub. Lacy and pillowy beige head on copper-brown beer. Light toasted malt aroma, grassy with a touch of caramel. Sharp and fairly clean bitterness. Roasty aromatics are very subtle and add nice character to a refreshing beer. Dry with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Addictive stuff... a Dunkel that drinks sort of like an Altbier.
