COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The nose will enjoy pepper and gentle roasting aromas such as cocoa and bitter chocolate. After a crisp initial taste, the malt releases more gentle avours. The texture is dry. A subtle acid kick from the roasting aromas leads to the nale: toffee, toast and cocoa notes gently linger. Dominantly malty, slim, dry.

Draft @ the brewpub. Poured a clear, dark amber with a small yellow/off-white head. Malty, spicy aroma. Flavour is bitter, sweet and malty. Floating notes of caramel, licorice and chocolate. Sweetish. Notes of grass as well, and hops appear as it warms. Finish is hoppy and dryish with slight notes of caramel. A bit watery. 15-08-06.

Dorqui (2174) - Brescia, ITALY - SEP 14, 2010
Draught at Brauhaus Lemkes am Schloß (Charlottenburg - Berlin).
Rather intense brown color with good bubbly aspcet. Creamy and adherent head. Bitterish taste with rivers resin notes, burned and aged wood, braced cereals. Perceivable alcohol but extremely balanced one.

ladnewton (1740) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 27, 2009
Draught, at Lemkes Spezialitätenbrauerei, Berlin, on 26th September 2009. Russet red with off-white vanishing head of foam. Some rich malt aromas of biscuit/cookie initially, followed by a highly flavoursome, delicately balanced "focus" of flavour in which a grassy hop is met and matched by a rich cookie malt. The result is a full-spectrum very tasty beer on a zingy, tongue-tickling mouthfeel. This beer stood up very well to the meal of sausage, sauerkraut and German mustard that accompanied it - great stuff!

On-tap at Brauhaus Lemke Hackescher Markt. Almost clear amber-brown with a small-medium white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and some earthy hops. Sweetish and malty with mild hoppy bitterness, a bit stale and bland. Thin body. Drinkable but not very exciting.

Tap@Brewpub. Nutty, light malty, hint of toffee aroma. Light brown, beige head, fair lace. Sweetish, malty, light nutty, nicely soft hopped.

JoeinDahlem (1440) - Berlin, Berlin, GERMANY - OCT 27, 2008
Draft at brewpub. Lacy and pillowy beige head on copper-brown beer. Light toasted malt aroma, grassy with a touch of caramel. Sharp and fairly clean bitterness. Roasty aromatics are very subtle and add nice character to a refreshing beer. Dry with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Addictive stuff... a Dunkel that drinks sort of like an Altbier.

humlelala (1282) - DENMARK - APR 20, 2011
(On tap at Brauhaus Lemke, Hackescher Markt) Pours a light-brown body with medium, off-white head. Faint aroma of toasted malt. Taste is mostly sweet. Texture is thin. Softly carbonated. Weak-bodied, with a short, burnt finish. Unremarkable and boring.
