4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2007 One of the beers that I tried while at Brauhaus Lemke in Berlin. This is the one I enjoyed most. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. I wish I could find it in America because I would load up on it!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Try the beer sampler at this brewpub, interesting contrasts. The original was by far my favourite of the four that were available. I wish they had a Steinkrug for this, it would have made for an even more pleasureable experience.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at the brewpub. Pours clear, red-brown with a moderate, light tan foam head. Dark malt nose, light caramel, perhaps even some cocoa. Light roast in the nose! (Haven’t encountered much roast in Berlin.) Very, very nice flavor. Good roasty wholegrain bread, some earthy bitterness, light to medium sweetness, toast, toasty sugars, light burnt wood. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light earthy, roasty finish, mild earthy hops, lingering toast, light cocoa and caramel. One of the best brewpub beers of Berlin.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught, at Lemkes Spezialitätenbrauerei, Berlin, on 26th September 2009. Russet red with off-white vanishing head of foam. Some rich malt aromas of biscuit/cookie initially, followed by a highly flavoursome, delicately balanced "focus" of flavour in which a grassy hop is met and matched by a rich cookie malt. The result is a full-spectrum very tasty beer on a zingy, tongue-tickling mouthfeel. This beer stood up very well to the meal of sausage, sauerkraut and German mustard that accompanied it - great stuff!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Nut brown, creamy head. Mildly roasty. Soft and velvetty with medium-full body. Despite the softness it’s solid and malt accented with notes of butter. Fairly low bitterness. A top quality dunkel!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Drank twice during Feb 2013 in the Dickenstr/rail arches outlet while in Berlin.
Impressed, a deep reddy brown body with a full and lasting white head of foam.
Malts foremost in the aroma and taste: fairly sweet, caramel and molasses rule here.
Body depth was fine: could have been thicker and ’meatier’ I suppose, but this is a lager/pilsner based beer and that should be remembered when comparing and rating/reviewing beers.
By far the best of the four brews on offer during my visits: I do have a sweet tooth though, so this suited my tastes nicely.
