3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 sethdude (653) - St. Louis, USA - AUG 7, 2005
Pours a cloudy cola color. Aroma is sweet and malty, bits of honey and hops. Flavor is great and malty. It’s like drinking rye toast. I’m betting this is the base for cherry-chocolate and Holidaze by the same brewer. Really nice malt flavor.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Airlifter (118) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 17, 2008
Brownish copper color with very little head. Sharp, hoppy aroma. Sweet with a hint of smokiness and hops. A bit thin and watery. Well carbonated. Pretty good, but not great.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ford9719 (371) - Vilseck, GERMANY - NOV 11, 2007
Bottle. Poured a very dark brownish. Aroma is hazelnut and malt. Taste is ok a lot of hazelnut to me but good.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DrnkMcDermott (2450) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2007
12 oz. bottle. When I visited the O’Fallon brewery, someone came in and asked if they had this beer, but of course most contract brewers don’t keep the stuff with someone else’s name on premise. But I found this at a liquor department in Columbia, MO, with an O’Fallon type label and the O’Fallon name on the side. Has a decent smell. dark and rich with roasty malts, almost like a porter. Some sediment on the bottom of the bottle, this may be a bit old. Pours opaque, dark brown color with an inch-thick, noisy tan head. I taste some peat, even a tad of rauch, right away. Alcohol seems to be session level. Some light chocolate malts on a base of regular. Some yeast swirling around. Standard bitter backing. Not all that "extravagant," but for now Lemp’s "other" beer after having a lager made. Yes, as others here have said: clean.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 tomciccateri (738) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - AUG 11, 2007
From a 12-ounce brown bottle. Pours a hazy dense brown color with no head. Light-to-medium body, slightly dry dark brown and cocoa-like flavor. Slightly chewy mouthfeel. Light underlying hop bitterness. Clean.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Rictus (126) - Camdenton, Missouri, USA - MAY 21, 2007
Not much smell (allergies). Dark brown, light tan head, very bubbly. Some floaties. Some roastyness. Typical brown ale taste. Modest, no detectable hops. Bit of an aftertaste. Kinda heavily carbonated (not like soda though). Boring
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 Gabemik (46) - Joplin, Missouri, USA - MAY 20, 2007
Thin, modest flavors. Nice, but nothing to make it stand out. Might be OK as a "gateway beer".
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jefcon (1124) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - NOV 9, 2006
Not a very good-looking beer, but generous enough malts and nice raosted flavors. Palate is a little rough with too much carbonation. A bit sweet and not very complex for a brown ale.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 PhillyBeer2112 (2364) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - AUG 15, 2006
Pretty ordinary but not bad. Somewhat malty, with molassses, chocolate chip cookies, and a mild roast in the finish. On the light side, with a clean profile. Brown in color without much head.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 harlequinn (2745) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - AUG 3, 2006
Decent brown ale, with some cookie dough maltiness, that literally has a moist body like a cookie would have, some roasted nuttiness mixed in with a light bit of bittering hops in the finish. Really tasty.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAY 17, 2006
Most of a bottle at St Louis Microfest, 5/13/06: This is a dark brown brew with a big poofy head. Cookie-malt basis with a bit of molasses and maybe a bit of roast nuttiness. Overall, this is a sweet brown beer.
