Sampled at Alan’s HSC initiation, thanks Dogbrick: Not the most memorable beer, I’d say it’s pretty average. Light amber pour, and a light-bodied beer. Sweet caramel malts dominate throughout, but finish dry.

Sep 23, 2008 On tap. Poured a slightly hazy red color with a one finger whitish head. Aroma was floral and piney with a slight malt note. Flavor was sweet malt with a pine taste and a dry finish. Medium body with mild carbonation.

May 15, 2008 Hazy amber colour with an off white head. Light caramel sweet and hoppy fruity and piney aroma. Hoppy, piney and orange fruity flavor with sweet malty notes. Dry, hoppy finish.

Apr 20, 2008 Orange amber colored brew with a thin tan head. Caramel and some fruit in the aroma. Maybe some English malts too. The flavor is a nice moderate sweetness with hints of fruit, caramel and English malt with an earthy floral bitterness in the finish. Fruit flavor here is apple or grape, could not decide which one. Floral/pine finish. Not just a run of the mill amber. Pretty solid.
porterhouse (954), Alna, Maine, USA
Apr 19, 2008 (22 oz. bottle via trade with IrishBoy, thanks Richard!) A good meaty amber...Pours fairly cloudy lightly reddish amber with four fingers of lightly amberish biege head. Aroma of candyish malt sweetness, almost like candy apple glaze. Mouthfeel fairly smooth with a good bit of texture for an amber. Fairly heavy foamy rings and sheets of lacing. Flavor is light sweet maltiness (caramel, vanilla) overlain by a nice assertive but not overpowering bitterness which is lightly piney. Nice bitter bite carries through to finish. Not super-hoppy so the name may be a bit deceiving. Underlying malt is maybe a bit weak but overall I enjoyed the flavor.
