1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle @ Base Camp, Bangkok. Medium gold with a small white head. The nose is general adjuncts, some sweet grain and honey. The taste is more light sweet grain and honey, some golden apple (if I’m being charitable) and chewy cardboard. Fizzy seltzer water body. Light and very easy to drink in this oppressive heat. Overall, a bit cheaper tasting than Singha...so not too great.

I am a hophead. That being said try finding hoppy beer in Thailand. So we have to settle for pissy lagers. Leo is one of the best of the pissy lager class in Thailand. In my opinion, Leo, Tiger and Chang are about the only lagers that are drinkable in Thailand. The nice thing about it is ice cold they go down great and they dont bloat or fill you up. They are crisp and clean and go down smooth and easy. You can drink them all night long. They dont stink like Singha or Heineken(thai version).

330ml bottle (Systembolaged, Stockholm)
More breakfast with Marduk, pre-SBWF, again, cracked open on our way to the old town - yay! Smells like a pale lager. Tastes like a bad pale lager, a bit corny, a bit husky. Poor quality, and just short of being actually nasty.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
One thing is to drink it gelid in the filthy heat of Thailand. But try in the comfort of your aircon-cooled room. Smells better than Singha, looks just as bad, tastes just as bad. Watery and nearly pissy.

Our tour guides beer of choice and quite a popular one amongst the locals on the islands in the Strait of Malacca on the east coast of Phuket. Couldn’t help but drink it with them. The one I took the pen out to though was chilled well in the fridge and imbibed overlooking holiday madness in the pool of our hotel. Pretty empty pour as the head goes up and quickly falls down. Chill hazed, yellow gold with minimal carbonation. Eggy, vegetal burp initially but this fades and there is really nothing left of the aroma. Sweet, sour, oddly vinous and just a little herbal on the palate. Chaff and cereal fill it out as it goes, lingering amongst a shallow dusty hop note. Very crisp, light bodied. Another inoffensive Thai number. (64cL, filled on 21/08/12, Big 1 Super Market, Bangla Road, Phuket, Thailand)

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours very pale with a low and quickly dissipating head. Aroma and flavor are malts, but not that much of it.

Singapore can. Not bad really. Better than most. Obviously not something to seek out but it at least has some character to it. Average.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pale yellow colour with a white head. Very light and mild malt aroma. Unusual sweet flavour. Not rich sweet, but a bit more than moderate. Easy and tasty drinkable beer in the sun.

Basic lager beer with very little carbonation. Head disappeared quickly. Best thing is that it is from Bangkok, my first taste from this area.
