2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - SEP 26, 2012
Our tour guides beer of choice and quite a popular one amongst the locals on the islands in the Strait of Malacca on the east coast of Phuket. Couldn’t help but drink it with them. The one I took the pen out to though was chilled well in the fridge and imbibed overlooking holiday madness in the pool of our hotel. Pretty empty pour as the head goes up and quickly falls down. Chill hazed, yellow gold with minimal carbonation. Eggy, vegetal burp initially but this fades and there is really nothing left of the aroma. Sweet, sour, oddly vinous and just a little herbal on the palate. Chaff and cereal fill it out as it goes, lingering amongst a shallow dusty hop note. Very crisp, light bodied. Another inoffensive Thai number. (64cL, filled on 21/08/12, Big 1 Super Market, Bangla Road, Phuket, Thailand)

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 jcr (1946) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - DEC 21, 2007
Bottle. The preferred temperature to drink this is very, very cold and served over ice. Not bad for a hot, muggy Thai day. But then there isn’t much flavor to it when it’s drunk that way. Light yellow with white head. Sweet aroma with hints of grain and vegetable. The flavor is moderately malty sweet and only slightly bitter. Sweet/canned corn finish. Better drunk cold.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Capa (1905) - Manama, BAHRAIN - FEB 21, 2009
Sweet malts with the faintest of bitterness. Crisp enough to fight spicy Thai food though, so I guess it served its purpose well.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 hirigalzkar (1818) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 22, 2011
Bottle. Uninspiried, but not bad tasting, lager beer. Sweet and "neutral", I guess. Not 100% clean maltiness, but not cheapisly watery either.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 solidfunk (1783) - Ontario, CANADA - JUL 20, 2011
Probably the best beer to drink in Thailand. It is about as tasteless as Tiger, which is a good thing considering the foul options, but it costs less. In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
