November 1st, 2013 - The international tour continues, and all beers, regardless of origin or merit will receive a at least a token sip. This time it’s the Leon Negra, an odorless and almost flavorless carbonated malt liquor. There’s a slight touch of raucchbier smokiness, but very little, and nothing else there to bolster it. It is a palate cleaner, maybe, closer to mineral water than beer. And even given the weather, it’s not enough to feel quenched or refreshed. It just is - existing, absent of feeling or character.

Bottle. A- Grain, watery. A- Dark amber color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Grains, corn, slightly malty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Not much to remember here. Maybe just a tinge better than the average Mexican pale lager.

Maybe a step above your average Mexican lager. Not saying much. It wasn’t good, just wasn’t so bad I wanted to spit it out.

Light brown, has a toasty/toffeeish note. Medium body for an industrial dark. Ok, one of the better macro darks in Mexico because it is more balanced and unlike the more famous ones it doesn’t have any tartness in the finish.

Bottle. Un-imaginative macro suds indistinguishable from many other similar beers. Perhaps a bit more flavor cf some other MX beers but still pretty bland and flavorless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I paired with a banana bread and it lightly enhanced the beer flavor, much more than wit savory snacks/food. Not much taste though and it feels light and diluted on the palate. Slightly fizzy.

Can @ Home. Pours amber with a fading tan head. Aroma of light malt, little sweet, cardboard, light citrus notes. Flavor is sweet malty, caramel, dusty, cardboard. Thin watery body, highly overcarbonated. 191114

The "dark" option at a resort in Mexico. Darker than all the Mexican lagers, to be sure, but still not very exciting.
