Just 3 grains and 3 hops are transformed by a long maturation process to produce a full bodied slight amber beer with a refined balance of floral and citrus notes. Its thick creamy head and bitter aftertaste result in a seductive yet robust drinking experience.

Bottle. Pours orange with a classy, white head. Aroma begins peach and marzipan. Turns quickly into strong spiciness, some berry, stingily ginger and clove. Taste is spicy, ginger, clove, some grain, fruity, light yeast. Fairly full, smooth.

Belle robe ambrée, mousse abondante. Nez élégant, floral, légèrement malté et finement houblonné. Bouche à l’attaque ample, bulle crémeuse, rétro épicée et maltée, finale souple et équilibrée. Une belle bière harmonieuse.

Pours hazy dark amber. The tawny head disappears quickly. Aroma is very subtle. Starts smelling of iron oxide, corn flakes, honey and banana. As temperature grows, new aromas appear: red berries, apple, juniper, orange. Soft, watery, light. Not really persistent.

33cl bottle, served in a lager glass at home. Perfect looking premium ale. Orange, amber coloured brew with firm, rocky white head with yellow sparks. A very vividly looking liquid with appealing aromas. Some malts, some hops, grain flavoured. Slight bitterness with wheat taste, nicely balanced. The ending is fairly short, and the hoppy hints aren’t that pronounced. Yet the minor sweetness and medium bodyness make it a good refreshing beer. A nice job by Brasserie de Marsinne.

Scopey (10040) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2015
Keg at Delirium, Brussels. It pours cloudy golden-orange with a decent, foamy white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, doughy, juicy, hay, creamy malts, muffin and light candy. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, dough, toasted grain, cereal, muffin, grassy bitterness, light fruitiness and some honey. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well-balanced and rather drinkable. A solid Belgian ale.

Alengrin (3684) - BELGIUM - APR 18, 2015
Blonde session beer from a new Wallonian micro brewery; very thick and frothy, dense, off-white, irregular head captured after a strong form of gushing; hazy orange blonde colour, near to amber, with medium effervescence. Estery aroma of peach, banana, redcurrant, strawberry, caramel, mango, honey, fairly strong suggestions of liquorice, cloves, chicken broth and cured meat. Sweet onset, subdued fruitiness, somewhat sugary, resinous and smooth body, with the sticky resin effect increasing towards the finish; caramelly malts supporting an almost cloying, ’dull’ spiciness of cloves and liquorice (as mentioned above), strong and sharp carbo, protein-like taste components. Finish is a continuation of the same, with a hint of floral, ’shy’ hops; the initial sweetness keeps dominating, with no ’real’ bitterness to speak of, apart from the resinous, idiosyncratic spiciness (no spices are mentioned, but they are very clearly there). Not bad at all, but a bit more hop bitterness would probably make it better.
