| An Amber Ale formerly brewed by Leopold Brothers Brewery Ann Arbor, Michigan USA
| |
CharlesDarwin (1333), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Ahh, my last Leopold Brothers beer, before they give up brewing and move to Colorado. A soon to be retired beer. Light malt and yeast aroma. House signature signs on even at the nose. Pours a lightly clouded reddish-gold. Tastes like tomato sauce and stale bread. Disgusting. Malt is dying, hops aren’t present and the house yeast is puking all over the floor. Carbonation is probably the best aspect of the beer. Sugars are sickly and the alcohol is too forward. Why am I not surprised? About as good as it ever gets at old Leopold. Finishes in some half-rotten tomatoes. Yeast is generally out of control. As my absinthe-intoxicated companion points out, "It’s like I started a road trip in Orange Juice, Minnesota and ended up in Rotten Pizza, Nebraska." Exactly, dude. Exactly.
