1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2013 Dark brown body with small light tan head. Odd dry caramel aroma with cereal and artificial malt extract. But that didn’t prepare me for the taste... Oh boy. Artificial sweetener, bubble gum, astringent ending.... What a mess. I was happy to find a stout in a French bar, but if the curious yet uninformed French would drink this... I feel for them. Even for a sweet stout it’s sweet, but the real problem is the artificial taste. Bleh. Perseverance and determination required to finish this monstrosity. If you have to tick this, keep another beer to the site to get rid of the nasty aftertaste. (33cl bottle at Gambrinus in Tours)

Bottle; pours dark brown with some reddish tints with a beige head; aroma is sweet with roast malt, sugar, and a little caramel; taste is quite sweet with no really stout bitterness; kind of disappointed in this one

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Beer52.
Pours dark brown/black half a finger off white head. Aroma of malts, spices, toasty malts, sugary sweetness, caramel, honey. Taste of initial sugar, caramel, almost a malt liquor, toffee, sarsaparilla, light smokiness. Not bad, just very sweet.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle. Bought this a little blind.
Nose: Non-existant slight malt a little sugar and wet cardboard. Taste is horrific. Sugar and sweet malts, with a sickly finish. Slight emerging milk chocolate, but really it’s just sugar.
My first Het Sas beer, and I will not be rushing back, I can’t recall a worse Belgian beer.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Pours black with small light brown head. Aroma is vague with hints of malt, coffee, apple pie and barnyard. Taste is very sweet, light acidic and faint bitter. Body is oily with light carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes that follow the nose. It’s more like a sweet schwartz bier than a stout.
