Lavt kremskum. Forsiktig aroma av karamell. Smak av nøtter & karamell. Syrlig bitter ettersmak som avslutter tørt. Koseøl. Bra butikkøl!

Pours brown. Not that much carbonation. Taste and aroma are, for some reason, almost non existent. I get some malty aromas. I expected more (from this type of beer).

0.33l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a near clear deep reddish body with a nice lacing off-white head. The aroma has some chocolate tones mixed with dark malts and hints of cardboard. Average carbonation levels and a mild oily mouthfeel. Quite nice and well blended roasted and thin chocolate/coffee flavors. Light drinkable without being over-exciting. A good introduction beer for the skeptic.

The suggestions on the bottle recommends serving at 4°C. I have no idea why as the beer has no aroma or taste at this temperature. As it warms up there’s chocolate, caramel and roastiness on the nose. Taste is mostly sweet with faint bitterness. All in all I was rather disappointed by this brew. Mahogany red, off-white head. Ok, I admit it, I’m not very good at pouring beers: I ended up with a tiny, short-lived head and a far too carbonated body. After swirling the dark brown liquid for some time I managed to beat out some of the carbonation and the mouthfeel ended up very smooth and pleasant, and at the same time a bigger and more persistent light-brown head formed. The aroma is roasted with milk chocolate and mild coffee notes, in addition to faint fruits, mostly peach. I don’t get the usual nutty notes, and the aroma doesn’t feel sweet at all. Strange. The taste confirms the findings of my nose: the taste has just a light sweetness. There is also an acidic touch and it ends up in a moderate to light bitterness. In addition to the chocolate, coffee and roasted notes from the aroma, there is also yeast in the flavours. A nice brown ale, but is it very true to the style (that is actually meant as a question, not a factual statement)?
[33 cl bottle, from Centra Colosseum, Majorstua, Oslo]

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2012 Bottle from Jacobs enjoyed at home
Pours redly brown with a nice tan head. Smells of roasted malts, caramel, nuts and small hints of chocolate. Taste is medium malty, good roasted barley and some hints of sweetness. Dry palate that leaves av very power bitter finish. Great stuff, sure is some hops in here. Probably the best from Lervigs Brand series

29.10.2011. 0,33l Bottle. COOP Marked, Sand, Norway. Dark brown colour with off-white head. Aroma is a bit thin. Notes of dark roasted malts. Watery mouthfeel with sour flavours of yeast. I think there must be some kind of infection in thsi beer.

A great gateway for lager-drinkers to other beers. Pours a nice head. Brown in color. Great drinkability. Nicely hopped with Australian Nelson hops. Became my summer favorite in 2011.
