3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black, with a brown head. Intense aroma: Dark fruit layers of plum and raisin, chocolate perhaps notes of licorice.Overall, balanced and very enjoyable. Tons of dark fruit layers, mainly dried plum and raisin, intermingled with bakers chocolate, with hints of coffee/mocha and vanilla bean. Medium-plus bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel. Mild, balanced bitterness and subtle sweetness. Pleasant finish, without being cloying or overpowering. Lingering dark fruit and chocolate nuances... possibly chocolate covered raisins? Nice, mellow booziness. A solid stout. Medium bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel. Mild, balanced bitterness and subtle sweetness. Pleasant finish and not too strong.. A solid stout. Very nice!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very great RIS, combining a massive body and an elegant velvety texture. The yeasty notes and the liquor reminiscences give to this beer an impressive personality, and enrich the usual coffeish flavors. A beer to enjoy in silence by the fireplace. The best brew by Mike Murphy.

Bottle secured by Nick... Thanks! Enjoyed by the fire on a snowy evening. Pours jet black, no head. Aroma is kind of muted... Bakers chocolate and roast. Taste is very toasty, day old coffee, bitter chocolate. Not too sticky and can’t detect alcohol hotness. Good stout.

Tap at CBC Clerkenwell. Pours pitch black with a small khaki head which stats for the duration and leaves some light lacing. Nose is full of dark and stewed fruits - almost caramelised. Loads of brown sugar and heavy bitter cocoa. Taste is bitter sweet chocolate, big dates and sultana, light vanilla and moderate ash. Chocolate sultana focus is immense. Finishes with a touch of heat and a little grainy right at the end. A very nice impy
