En svært mørk russisk imperial stout, brygget med pilsnermalt, sjokolademalt, karamellmalt, røstet bygg og havre. Humlen er Northern Brewer og Chinook. Alegjær gjør dette brygget veldig tungt og fyldig.

Konrad’s Stout is a new beer in the Brewer’s Reserve range, from Lervig’s head brewer Mike Murphy. A Russian Imperial Stout brewed with oatmeal.

At torst. Oily black with no head. Fruity, vinuous almost medicinal. Taste retains some medicinal fruit.

Pours pitch black, with a small and fairly dense, though small, dark tan head that leaves a fair bit of lacing. There are a lot of aromas in this one, and they’re intense, yet exquisitely balanced. The most prominent aromas are liquorice, Spanish roast coffee, black malt, smoky tar, bitter chocolate, dried fruits, and a spicy pine-like hint of hops. The taste is quite sweet, with a slightly wine-like finish, not quite dry, but tannic bitter. The body is heavy, with a moderate carbonation. This stout is very complex, and has a high ABV (though it isn’t obvious when you taste it), and could easily overwhelm those who aren’t used to dark ales. It was however a great experience for my stout-loving self, and a great introduction to Lervig.

Bottle 33cl. Pours black with minimal head. This one is easy to enjoy. Dark chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, some licorice notes....It reminds me of christmasbread with raisins. (Vörtbröd in swedish). It´s hard to "feel" the 10,4% alc. I wish i had another bottle of this!!

New Beer Distributors, NYC 11.2oz ($5): Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, licorice, plenty of coffee, and a but of burnt malts. Taste is sweet and chocolatey a the front and goes into a nice burnt, smoky finish. Alcohol is well covered with ample maltiness. Body is medium and somewhat oily, but not to the point of making it hard to drink. Well-balanced and pleasant to drink.

Pours black into a snifter. Soapy mocha head with good retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Dark chocolate and licorice aromas. Thick with dark chocolate and soy upfront turning to pit fruit and molasses before the lasting espresso finish.
