330 ml bottle. Hádanka, Helsinki, Finland. Dark red colour with small creamy off-white head. Liquorice, mint, spices and some fruitiness in aroma. Flavour is... toothpaste, spices, malt, dried fruits and... No good at all. I don't like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shared bottle at Christmas beer tasting 15.12.12 Dark reddish color, aroma is distinctly licorice and camphor. Taste is very complex, the alcohol is evident, hints of dryed fruit and a pernod or absinth like taste. Would be nice with rice pudding.

33 cl bottle. I expected a much better beer from Lervig than this. No bite! Watery for a strong christmas beer. Will give this another try - maybe something wrong with this batch.

Clear, very deep red to brown body, with a very light brown head that isn’t that long-lived but still leaves a good deal of lacing. The aroma is rather strong and very dominated by anise and herbs. Original and pleasant! It’s also a bit sweet and lightly roasted and I get some dried dark fruits and dust. The taste is moderate to light sweet and moderate bitter. To me the flavours are not very typical for a christmas beer, there is very little sweet caramel and dried fruits, but it’s extremely herbal with huge amounts of aniseeds. Even the bitterness has this sharp herbal feel, and this makes the mouthfeel a bit stinging. Still a very nice beer, I like the anise approach.
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Bottle from Vinmonoploet. Unpleasant aroma. Nasty aftertaste. Almost undrinkable. Will get some second opinions, but not a good beer,

Bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Clear amber/mahogany beer with a small beige head. Malty aroma, quite artificial with solvent notes and some nuts. Artificial flavor, diesel, very strange and almost undrinkable. Bad bottle?

Brown colour with a small tan headm aroma consists mostly of caramel and pine. Taste is caramel, pine and malts. Finsh has low bitterness, a bit less sourness would be prefered. Overall this reminds me of a norwegian macro christmas ale, a bit boring.

A very dark brown color, medium-sized frothy head. Aroma has dark fruits, especially raisin, licorice and some maltiness. Taste is sweet; flavours of raisin and licorice dominate. Some maltiness and a little spiciness appear too. Palate is only light to medium bodied and slightly sticky - should be fuller. This beer is maybe a bit one-dimensional and too light. Not bad but not great either.

clovey spiicy aroma. smooth sweet body, ok carbonation. nice roast, but a bi sweet. Late finish had black tea, which was nice. too sweet for me, but no seeter than many christma brews. I wouldn’t kick it out of bed for eating biscuits...
