This double IPA is copper colored and bitter, but balanced by the malty flavors. The 20% rye malt gives this beer a nice bite which helps bring the massive hops together.
Malts: pale malt, caramel malts, rye malt, oats. Hops: Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo. Aroma: piney, resinous hops, with notes of fresh fruit, spice and caramel malt. Food pairings: salty and fried foods, grilled red meat and Indian curry.

Editor’s note: First served on tap at 7.7% ABV.

Hazy copper /honey, one finger head leaves lacing and stays ok. Slightly roasted, caramel, tropical fruits, bit almost funky notes also. Flavor-kick: sweet and higly bitter, bit roasted caramel, tropical fruits, medium body, slick feel , soft carbonation, long tasty and bitter finish. Lots of personalality, nice nuances but also challanges with bitterness bunch.

33 cl bottle. Pours a light amber color with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, yeast and hay. Plenty of bitterness in this one. Medium to heavy body with limited carbonation (on the border of flat?). All in all an ok IPA sitting somewhere between the light IPAs and the DIPAs.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2014 (Updated rating, keg at Pikkulintu, 20140312) The hops came through very nicely both in the aroma and it the taste. The rye was present in the fuller body. +2

(Bottle, 0.33l - BBE 210814, at Pikkulintu, 20130106) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, sweetness, fruitiness and rye bread. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, grapefruit, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Afteraste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A nice IPA but if the label says rye the grain should have a stronger presence. Old score: 3.5
