Editor’s note: First served on tap at 7.7% ABV.

Keg at Draft House, 8.5% version. Golden orange, clear, sparkling, big white head. Aroma is mostly sweet caramel, rye spiciness. Body is medium, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste is syrupy caramel, boiled sweets, resin, pepper, tangy and dry. Big flavour but it’s a got a little too much toffee apple sweetness for me. Decent anyway.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep golden, nice head. Hoppy-fruity aroma. Starts fine malty, mild hoppy, flowery, fruity notes of lemon. Finish less fruity, dry, light bitter notes. Not bad!

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, red session. 03/05/2014. Clear bright orange coloured pour with a sticky white head. Aroma is nice tropical fruits, resin and peach. Flavour is earthy pine, resin hop, grainy malts with a hint of rye bread spice. Palate is crisp, mineral iron, highish carbonation. Lingering assertive, harshish bitterness.

At Una bar in Bergen (Bryggen). Nice little bar on the main walkway with a good draft list - modern / chic look. Beer was fine.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle courtesy of Summer Secret Santa. Aroma has a distinct rye character with some lighter pale, cracker malt notes. Moderate hop character, fairly citrus forward with lighter notes of tropical fruit and pine resin. Pours a pale, hazy golden orange with some copper hues. Medium sized, slightly off white head of moderate thickness displays average retention. Medium light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is sweet and malty with a nice rye note and some light cracker and caramel. Medium high bitterness balances out the sweetness. Medium notes of citrus and tropical fruit with lighter stone fruit and resin character. Some light alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty decent rye double IPA. A little sweeter than I would prefer but there is some nice hop character that works well with the rye.
