Editor’s note: First served on tap at 7.7% ABV.

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. This was my last beer for 2014 and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Strong beer with an intense flavour and big finish.

Good off white head, deep golden clear body, lacing as some fluffy dots. Scents of mild sweet resin, fruity hops, dough, malts, caramel, sweetwood and smoked plum peels. Strong taste, resin, hops, brown malts, tan syrup, bitter plum peels, leading to a resiny fruity-dry strong bitter finish. Powered body, soft carbonation. Overall really a power-IPA. 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, with a small off-white head, which does not last all that well, but leaves a little lacing. Burnt caramel and toffee mix with resin and spice hops to create the aroma. Strong resin and grapefruit hops up front give way to burnt caramel malt in the mid-palate, with grapefruit and spice hops in the finish. A nice, hoppy IPA, with plenty of rye to back it up.

Backlog rating. Keg at FOB, Rimini. It pours a hazy burnt orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma is hoppy and spicy, with notes of hay and tropical fruits. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter, with notes of tropical fruit hops, black pepper, biscuit, caramel and red berries. Finishes dry and spicy, mildly bitter. Medium bodied with lilvely carbonation. Overall, really tasty
