COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

This double IPA is copper colored and bitter, but balanced by the malty flavors. The 20% rye malt gives this beer a nice bite which helps bring the massive hops together.
Malts: pale malt, caramel malts, rye malt, oats. Hops: Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo. Aroma: piney, resinous hops, with notes of fresh fruit, spice and caramel malt. Food pairings: salty and fried foods, grilled red meat and Indian curry.

Editor’s note: First served on tap at 7.7% ABV.

Taste comprises orange pith, hint of grapefruit, melon, light rye bread, pine resin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light mineral rinse Nd hop bitterness evident. Decent enough easy drinking DIPA.

Bottle. Golden with a medium head. Hops and bitterness merge together creating a pleasant easy to drink flavour not as overwhelming as I expected. If anything its a bit too bitter for my palate but still enjoyed trying it.

Bottle BBE: 2.2.16. Well-chilled. Pours a cloudy pale amber with a generous, pillowy, off-white head. Classic high intensity grapefruit, orange squash and oats with some cat litter. Noticed the strong ginger when tasted, lending a moderate biscuity sweetness. The high-medium bitterness doesn’t pack quite as big a punch as expected. The high abv is pretty well disguised. Body is medium to medium-full, with a coarse texture. Carbonation is medium-high and the finish bitter and long. Overall this is a fairly run-of-the-mill expression of a style that should give you a slap in the face.
