Flaske fra Polet og på Cardinal, jan-12: Har likt denne hver gang jeg har prøvd. Interessant med den utpregede rosinsmaken. Håper de lager en ny batch av denne.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.33L bottle from bestillingsutvalget, Vinmonopolet. Two fingers of fully diminishing beige head. Body is brownish red with good clarity. Modest aroma of nutty malts and dusty hops, along with a vague smell of caramel, dark bread and raisins. Lightly sweet, toasted, medium strong malt body. Some dark dried fruits. Sparesly hopped. Notes of higher alcohols. Light astringent mouthfeel. A certain acidulous fruitiness in a short ending. Drinks ok, but a bit unrefined.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark amber with a tiny light brown head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, roasted malt, alcohol and spices. Sweet and fruity with lots of raisins and some spices. Slightly bitter finish. Reminds me a bit about gløgg. Anyway it’s a nice winter warmer. (BF310915)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottled) Almost clear, dark copper-brown with a smallish, quickly descending head. Strong aroma of raisins and plums with caramely maltiness and burned sugar. Flavor is caramely and dark-fruity with raisins and lightly roasted, but mostly syrupy maltiness. Low bitterness. Quite full-bodied with low and soft CO2. A very smooth and warming brew with lots in common with Belgian dubbels and quads. It’s missing the crucial yeast part, though, but definitely worth a try. 6237
