COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fyldig, rik smak fra ristede karamellmalter, utsøkt britisk humle og rosiner - ingredienser som sammen med vann og gjær også skaper den rødlige gløden og det gyldne skummet. Fyr i peisen, rull ut bjørneskinnet, hell i glasset. La Lervig Winter Ale med sine 8,3 alkoholprosenter varme opp vinterkvelden.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Pretty hazy reddish color, small off-white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, sweetness, lightly alcohol and some sugar. Taste malts, sweetness, molasses, raisins, sugar, slightly alcohol. Decent to medium body, soft carbonation.

Pours a hazy tawny brown with a white head. Toffee and raisin taste with a very full mouthfeel. Great, complex flavours with an aftertaste reminiscent of a dark rum. This is an excellent winter ale. Thanks to Holmen 1 for the bottle!

From bottle at Clarion Energy Hotel with KL and ES. Muddy brown. Beige head. Aroma of prunes, dates, roasted nuts, dark syrup and brittle. Taste of medium dark malt, prunes, dates, rasins, dark caramel, honey and brittle, balanced with medium bitterness. A hint of herbs in aftertaste. Still not too sweet, and with good drinkability.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2016 Great version - sweetness of dried fruit and caramel with a dry bready backbone. I thought the booze was well masked, not raw at all. Something like a barley wine but a bit more mellow. Lots of dried raisin in there.

Hazy copper colour. No head almost at all. Caramel, raisins in the aroma. Caramel, raisins at first. Hints of dark fruits and bread in the middle. Sweet finish. Rather medium bodied, sticky, low carbonated drinkable winter beer. But would not have two glasses in the row because of the sweetness. Otherwise, nicely balanced and neutral.

Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Storo), Oslo. Clear, reddish golden colour. Finger-thick light beige head, decent retention, settles as a thin ring. Aroma is fairly closed; needs quite a warming-up to reveal a nice, woody and sweet sherry-like aroma with toffee, dried fruit (raisins) and alcohol. Medium body, soft/average carbonation. Taste is subtle/restrained, but well-balanced with mild acidity and bitterness on a sweet malty base. Aftertaste is relatively dry and woody. OK brew, but had expected a more powerful aroma.
