Lucky Jack is just about the perfect beer for summer. Grapefruit, tropical fruits and citrus flavours from the Citra and Amarillo hops are apparent in the aroma and taste. But we decided to go one step further and actually make it the perfect summer beer. Beginning this spring (2016), we’re adding grapefruit juice to some of our Lucky Jack tanks. Now you can have all the flavour of Lucky Jack with a twist: a perfect medley of citrus from the addition of grapefruit juice. It’s beautifully refershing on a hot summer day on the deck or at the beach.

Malts: Pilsner and Caramel.
Hops. Perle, Citra, Amarillo, Chinook.

Aroma: grapfruit and citrus.

Food pairings: BBQ chicken and ribs, tortillas and guachamole, fresh fruit salad.Inspirert av iddisen Senior, Stavanger Norway.

On tap at Craft & Draft. Clear amber gold pour with creamy white head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity hoppiness, light spruce. Taste is bitter, piney, light caramel, old school pale ale. Decent but nothing exciting.

From can at home. Comparison of filtered and new unfiltered versions. Pours deep golden-light amber with white head. Weak aroma of malt, much citrus, pine needles. Taste bitter-dry with citrus, some bread-like malt sweetness; a lot of grapefruit bitterness. Longlasting bitter aftertaste. Unfiltered has bigger and more stable head, more citrus, more complexity, some sulfur. Filtered has more malt aroma and more crispiness.

From a can. Not as go driven as I’d expected, quite refreshing with a slight spicey finish. Not too bad at all.

Bottle from Rimi, 28/10/14. Orange amber with a loose white crown. Aroma peach boiled sweets and barley squash. Soapy and weakly floral with decent stewed tea and dunked honeycomb suggestions. Reasonable.

330ml can. Red-golden liquid with decreasing two thinger airy white head. Aroma of citrus and piny hops backed by some malt sweetness. Almost creamy mouthfeel with fairly lively carbonation. Bitter grapefruit flavor with some malt in the background again. Enjoyable, though rather one sided, pale ale.

33cl bottle@home. Really nice floral hop aroma when poured into a tall glass. Nice white head which stays on the amber brew for long enough. Pleasant low carbonation. A bit watery texture subtracts - the low alcohol perhaps? Complex taste of hops and malts and a long, lingering aftertaste. Seems to gain bitterness with each gulp - with perhaps a bit too much before the hoppy aftertaste kicks in. A nice APA all in all - very tasty and not too much alcohol-

Pours amber with a large fading head. Nose shows light sweet malt, marmalade and soft spicy hops. Similar flavours. Heavy malt, some piny and spicy hops.
