Lucky Jack is just about the perfect beer for summer. Grapefruit, tropical fruits and citrus flavours from the Citra and Amarillo hops are apparent in the aroma and taste. But we decided to go one step further and actually make it the perfect summer beer. Beginning this spring (2016), weíre adding grapefruit juice to some of our Lucky Jack tanks. Now you can have all the flavour of Lucky Jack with a twist: a perfect medley of citrus from the addition of grapefruit juice. Itís beautifully refershing on a hot summer day on the deck or at the beach.

Malts: Pilsner and Caramel.
Hops. Perle, Citra, Amarillo, Chinook.

Aroma: grapfruit and citrus.

Food pairings: BBQ chicken and ribs, tortillas and guachamole, fresh fruit salad.Inspirert av iddisen Senior, Stavanger Norway.

33cl bottle. Pours hazy amber with one finger of light beige head that disappears quickly. Aroma is light with sweet malts, caramel and light citrus. Taste starts with quite plain malts and jumps to a vegetal bitter dry hoppy finish without any noticeable fruity aroma in the middle. Maybe some citrus peel but still on the bitter side. Medium body, slightly watery finish, light to medium carbonation. A bit deluding.

Itís ale and itís pale. Itís citrusy, but doesnít kick at all. And since there isnít too much hoppy character, fact that the maltyness is neither complex, interesting or with a presence, makes the beer kind seem lacking. A drinking beer if you donít pay attention to drinking, but at a heavy price.

Aroma: flowers, resin, some grass. Appearance: clear amber, medium, creamy white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: hops intensify, getting very bitter in the long finish. Overall: OK APA, but nothing too exciting. Pint at Mother Kellyís, Bethnal Green.

Typical pale ale, without any fuzz. Plain and simple malt and bitterness. Richer than a lager, but not by much.

Keg at Draft House. Hazy amber, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is sour caramel. Body is medium, low carbonation. Taste is, again, a bit sour with some tangy citrus, toffee malt, astringent resin. OK. My 100th American Pale Ale rating.

Bottled. Pours clear deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of citrus, peach, piney notes and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and decent bitter. Lightb to medium bodied, watery to oily texture and average carbonation. A nice and crisp APA.

Can bought from Draft House Charlotte Street. Not much aroma, just a little light and malty. Flavour fairly nondescript - would like to try this on keg for a comparison.
