It’s ale and it’s pale. It’s citrusy, but doesn’t kick at all. And since there isn’t too much hoppy character, fact that the maltyness is neither complex, interesting or with a presence, makes the beer kind seem lacking. A drinking beer if you don’t pay attention to drinking, but at a heavy price.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can bought from Draft House Charlotte Street. Not much aroma, just a little light and malty. Flavour fairly nondescript - would like to try this on keg for a comparison.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: flowers, resin, some grass. Appearance: clear amber, medium, creamy white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: hops intensify, getting very bitter in the long finish. Overall: OK APA, but nothing too exciting. Pint at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg at Draft House. Hazy amber, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is sour caramel. Body is medium, low carbonation. Taste is, again, a bit sour with some tangy citrus, toffee malt, astringent resin. OK. My 100th American Pale Ale rating.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Typical pale ale, without any fuzz. Plain and simple malt and bitterness. Richer than a lager, but not by much.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Pours clear deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of citrus, peach, piney notes and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and decent bitter. Lightb to medium bodied, watery to oily texture and average carbonation. A nice and crisp APA.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle. Pours hazy amber with one finger of light beige head that disappears quickly. Aroma is light with sweet malts, caramel and light citrus. Taste starts with quite plain malts and jumps to a vegetal bitter dry hoppy finish without any noticeable fruity aroma in the middle. Maybe some citrus peel but still on the bitter side. Medium body, slightly watery finish, light to medium carbonation. A bit deluding.
