3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bière-Luc (296) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013

Thx. to Martinus for sharing this one // 75 cl. swing-top bottle sampled @ Tim’s De Molen & assorted beers tasting // brewed with maple syrup // picked up a week ago by Tinus but regardless this bottle was still BBF 19 May 2012 // lovely big gusher, pretty fountain on the table // looks like a fountain, nice // amber with a brief off-white head // smell is bread, leaves, light syrup, yeasty, spices and caramel // taste is sweetish, caramel, bread, syrup, way too much carb., berries, BE-style yeast, spices, grains, light signs of age // meh, I hear that it cost a pretty penny // not worth that, that for sure
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Martinus (1791) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 1, 2013
Amber colour, white head. Aroma of maple syrup, malts, slight sour note, spices, lots of bubble gum and caramel. Rather sweet flavour, caramel, paper, feeling quite old. Finish sweet, maple syrup, cardboard.
Checking the date: best before May 2012. Bought at a Lille branch of the chain only a week ago. That aint nice.
(From 33cL bottle shared at the DMT @ Tim’s living, Gent)

Taste: bitter start, grains, some citrus, bit spicy, sourish, cardboard, bitter unpleasantness. Aftertaste: caramel, spices, dry, cardboard and some chocolate. Bleuh.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - DEC 31, 2012
75cl bottle, shared with 77ships, Martinus and Tderoeck. Thanks Tinus.
BB 19-5-2012. Huge gusher.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ogivlado (4990) - Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 24, 2012
swing top bottle 330ml. -from brewpub Reims. Darker amber coloured, medium to big sized off- white head, (dried) fruity spicy nose. Sweet malty, moderate spicy and hint of alcohol with rather fruity finish. Pretty sweet overall but without any trace of maple syrup.

on tap at festibiere quebec, qc. clear golden-orange with a very nice off-white head, good retention and lacing. grainy, peppery, lightly toasted malts, very light maple in the background. some sweetness but there’s no cloying maple at all. yeasty. very. lively, light body, decent dry herbal finish. underrated.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 SlovakSniper (2115) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 27, 2012

Swingtop bottle from the brewpub in Lille Cloudy amber color; high carbonation, generous head. Some aroma of vegetables, spicy maybe. Common Ale with some vegetables touch, and common bitterness too. Imprecise.
