En fût. Verre de 330 ml dégusté directement à la brasserie, établissement Vieux-Montréal (Montréal, QC). Arôme: Odeur de caramel fruité avec une pointe d’épices. Apparence: La couleur est ambrée foncée. Présence d’un moyen col mousseux et d’une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel avec une pointe de prune et d’houblons. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût houblonné. (Rating #4707)

Aroma: vinous, alcoholic yet with milder approach. Clean character , fairly smooth feel.7+
Appearance: poured as clear dark garnet with amber hue, Lighter beige cap on top. Great lace presented.
Palate / Taste: Full bodied with mid carbonation. Clean brewing. Sided with yeasty character, smooth refined alcohol on top. Very nice.

on tap at quebec city location. golden with a small light beige head, little retention. some dried fruits, but mostly caramel, booze, sugary and lightly roasted and molassed malts, awkward garbagy taste and aroma, some spices. average carbonation, light to medium body, decent grassy-herbal finish. blah.

2013-01-11. Crisp dark red amber body, nice beige head and lace. 3++ Aroma is prominently spicey, lightly alcoholic, muted malt. Flavour is similarly quite spicey and moderately alcoholic. Dryness of the beer accentuates the spice. Mild malt eventually comes out as you go, very lightly leafy whispers to the hops on occasion. Average palate is a bit light for the beer. Body and dryish overall impression suggests an aggressive fermentation, a bit more malt character would add to the drink ability, alcohol is noticeable but relatively mild considering the strength. First brew to try at the newest brewpub, in Ottawa. Pours a clean copper colour with a small off-white head that leave good lace. Beautiful mild aromas of spices, warming alcohol and cereal malts. Medium-full mouthfeel. Very nice bitterness the whole way with the hops. Decent sweetness from the grain balancing things. Feels like an Imperial IPA, but with the caramel malt balancing it all. I really liked it as my first taste of The 3 Brewers.

En fût au 3 Brasseurs Ste-Catherine (nommée La Chauferette). Couleur acajou foncée, semi-opaque, mousse beige disparaissant rapidement en laissant un anneau. Arôme de malt grillé, prune, alcool. Goût de malt grillé, fruits confits, caramel, alcool, avec un arrière-goût un peu désagréable. Carbonation moyenne, corps moyen-dense.

La Chaufferette du DIX30 arrive à ma table et expulse rapidement des parfums de Cascade et de malts en sucre d’orge et en bonbons à l’érable. Le liquide ambré est dans une forme olfactive surprenante! Sur les papilles, le houblon donne le meilleur de lui-même avec des agrumes sucrés et des notes florales. Il y a un fond céréalier qui préfère s’incliner légèrement face aux flaveurs obtenues du ou des cultivars. En bouche, l’impression est intéressante et professionnelle. Le corps est de moyenne densité et est pourvue d’un pétillement adéquat. La texture est légèrement huileuse. La finale qui est moyennement longue se fait sur des notes amères florales et végétales. Tout compte fait, une bière très intéressante qui mériterait un certain affinement.

Sample at the Ottawa brewpub. Pale browny copper with minimal biege head. Alcohol, raisin, bit of prune, some brown sugar and toffee with a roasted malt. Mild carbonation, moderate and alcoholic body with a thin mouthfeel, more sweet then I would have liked on the finish with more raisins and plum.

App.: Deep ruby copper. Aroma: Odd, medicinal, tight. Palate: Medium body, restrained effervescence, astringent. Flav.: Peppery, caramel/toffee, grapefruit, strong dark dried fruit, dark rum, intense and not entirely pleasant; dry with good bitterness and a peppery, malty finish.

Big stuff.

A clear reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet grainy malt with light maple notes. In mouth, a smooth sweet maple malt with brown sugar, herbal hops, oily mouthfeel, well done. On tap at Festibiere de Gatineau as La Chaufferette, May 25 2012.
