4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Parket (553) - Bruges, BELGIUM - MAY 2, 2012
75cl bottle, shared with friends (2x), dark brown with foamy, lacing and stable white head. Smell: some hoppy notes, caramel, dark fruits. Taste: just great: a perfect balance between the fruity of a dark ale and the powerfull hoppyness of a IPA: caramel, chocolat, yeasty, hoppy. To try on a hot summerday! It was my list bottle, but I’ll buy more of them!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 suprchunk (1393) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - JAN 8, 2012
Hand-written label at HopDuvel. Dark toffee-amber colored pour. Huge off-white head. Plenty of lacing as the giant bubbles pop and the head falls. An earthy spiciness in the nose. Malty, hoppy nose. Sweet malt flavor with hints of alcohol, raisins and sugar. Dry finish with a bit of alcohol, but subdued. Very good beer that I will buy again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 thanatosti (585) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 26, 2012
On tap @ Kafé België, Utrecht. Dark brown with a nice big tan head. The perfect marriage, at least to me, between an IPA and Abbey Dubbel. The aroma and bitterness from the hops and the sweetness and caramel from a dubbel.
Maybe it was because of the atmosphere (I was there with my son on a perfect father-son day) but this beer is instantly one of my favourites. Will rate (and taste!) again soon.
