3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2015 Tasted from a bottle and from tap at the brewery, as well as under its alias Lupulus Ambrée, apparently a forerunner of it eight-odd years ago, but I had not idea it was the same thing till now. In any case this was the first 3 Fourquettes beer which was actually bottled. Spiced with thyme. Thick, creamy, rocky, yellowish white, stable head, deep peach blonde colour, hazy. Strong peachy aroma, orange peel, thyme noticeable, apple, vanilla, honey, floral hops and soapy hops, hint of vanilla; soft fruity taste with mild citrus touch, subdued maltiness but smooth, a bit honeyish and a bit bready and pleasant enough; fresh, light hop bitterness in the finish, dry with a touch of the thyme. Nothing too exceptional but a very decent spice beer for sure.

750ml corked bottle served in a tulip glass. Pours a cloudy pale orange color forming a medium white creamy head. Quite "dirty" with lots of white yeast particles floating inside. Medium retention and some lingering and molasses formed and left in the glass. Great nose, very fruity, flowery and spicy. Sweet. Strong notes of pale malts. Notes of honey, black pepper, orange zest, wheat and wheat. Earthy and bready Belgian style yeasts. Taste follows the nose. Sweet upfront. Strong notes of honey, pale malts, black pepper, flowery hops, citrus hops, orange zest and sweet bread. Again, strong notes of Belgian earthy and bready yeasts. Good hippy bitterness which gives it a good bittersweet balance. Complex. Heavy body. Medium carbonation. Sweet, bready and spicy aftertaste. Excellent drinkability. Masterpiece.

Degustata in bottiglia da 75 centilitri. Aspetto ottimo colore biondo chiaro schiuma persistente e alveolata. Odore di pane, uvetta e vino Porto. Si caratterizza all’assaggio per la presenza di note sia dolci che amare che la rendono particolarissima e complessa. Ben camuffati gli 8 gradi e mezzo. Abbastanza secca al palato.

Tried also on tap, now reviewing from 75cl bottle. Pours a large white head, pale yellow to golden cloudy colour. Smells yeasty, hay, lemon zest, floral, really belgian. Tastes honey, lemony, fruity, herbs, cereals light spices; medium sweetness, low to medium bitterness, very balanced. Medium bodied, average to lively carbonation, creamy and fizzy texture. Fruity, yeasty, slight dry finish. A refined, drinkable, and refreshing ale, a very nice tripel this is ; )
