probstk (695), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Oct 1, 2008 341 ml bottle as single from LCBO ($2 bin), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Wow, is this light in colour! Extremely light straw. Either a slightly deeper champagne or a light cider. Clear with no head.
Aroma: Very much like cider – yeast, bread dough, apples, fairly metallic, some malic and other fairly pleasant organic acids.
Palate: Medium-light body, somewhat sharp effervescence.
Flav.: Does NOT follow the nose well! There is a touch of apple brightness but this really weird pineapple/tropical fruit note, very dusty; on swallowing, there is almost an umami-like quality, vaguely saline, metallic notes and a light cereal finish.
Maybe some things are better off not being. Like fat-free ice cream, sugar-free candy and gluten-free beer. Strangebrewer (42), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Sep 28, 2008 The lightest coloured beer I’ve ever seen. Skunky, sour apple aroma with thin head. Tastes like watery champaigne. If I ever became allergic to gluten I would drink water before I drank this again. I wish I could give it a lower rating. Jukkabro (2394), Tampere, Finland Sep 3, 2008 Light yellow colored with cloudy appearance. Aroma is disgusting skunky with some pineapple coming through. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is also similar with disgusting note in start, aftertaste turns to peachy and pineapply. Well, I’m not jealous for glutein free people. Blasphemies (45), Ontario, Canada Mar 30, 2008 Well, it came out of the bottle looking like a bubbly apple juice. Tasted like a bland unsweetened apple cider. I guess if you’re allergic to gluten this is heaven for you, but then again, I’d rather go to hell instead. Thank goodness I have a Brutal Bitter in front of me now.
