Bottle from Aldi Supermarket. Pale amber, little toasty grain looking, medium white head which dissipates to edges after a minute or two. Nose is similar to a wit bier. Creamy, lemon, clove, some light eatery fruity yeast, banana ester. However it’s also got some grain husk, maybe some lager yeast. Taste is light bodied, possible a little too light. Estery banana, clove, lager yeast, lemon, barely grain husk, creamy wheat. It’s tasty and has some flavour, but it’s a bit lacking in body and bit too simple.

A mid golden yellow coloured beer with a weak white head. A heady aroma of herbal and spice hops with a dark caramel maltiness. Dry mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma, with a herbal, fruity and spicy hop flavour that adds a tartness to a smooth, caramel flavour. The finish is long and spicy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Aldi, golden fruity malt nose, lightly peppery, sweetish but with a balancing alcohol warmth.

Caged cork bottle 6%. Golden beer with small head. Aroma of citrus, yeast and a hint of vinegar. Taste is citrus, yeast, tangerine, some spice and a little vinegar again. OK beer, just doesn’t seem to gel well though.

Bottle from Aldi, Great Barr. Sour Belgian yeasty flavour. A little bit of flower, a little wheat and banana. A bit cloying. Kind of OK, but kind of oversweet too. Biere de Garde is kind of a weakling style, huh?

A pretty decent bier de Garde though it’s lost 1.2% since I last had it. The 6% version stands up well and is easier to drink. Big white fluffy head, lively yellow body, bread, yeast and soft sweet malt with a good hop balance.

As a pro brewer myself i was very keen to try this and was surprised. It has a very nice one finger head with a medium carbonation. Golden in colour. It has a very nice wheat flavour with some citrus notes. The finishing is that what you would expect given by the esters of the Belgian Yeast. Nice one Aldi!
