Lubiere (3130), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 9, 2007 Well, from the bottle (750 mL), this was a dark brown ale with a thick brown moka head. Aroma of pleasant chocolate and nuts, but no fruits in here. In mouth, a good chocolate malt, burned toast, nuts, rather strong, but there was no signs of cherries in this beer, so looses points in overall. Basically, the label was the "Brune" label with a little Cerise sticker added. Bought at Marché des Saveurs, Sept. 2 2007. Glouglouburp (1852), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 2, 2007 Updated: Oct 19, 2007The look: Partly cloudy orange-copper body with a small beige head.
The style: Wild Cherries Fruit Beer
The stuff: Body is very light but not in a watery way, more like a airy body. Fruity taste has some earthy cherries, dried fruits and orange peels. Light flower petals flavour, some pepper and even notes of salt-something (onion-salt?). Weird hops profile with a mix of old dry flowers and something resembling grassy noble hops. This so called wild-cherries fruit beer is not even refreshing or “girly”. Felt tired and unfocussed. Probably because wild cherries are just regular cherries that stay up all night partying.
The how: On tap (pint) at Dame-Jeanne
The conclusion: Disappointing. Not refreshing and/or tasty. Feels “off`”, a mix of stuff that don’t stick together.
