Backlog - May 13, 2010. 500ml bottle shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Holy crap, that was an epic tasting, just the three of us! Hazy gold pour with a small diminishing white head (3-). Tangy aroma - herbal bitterness and apricot sweetness (hey, why did I recognize apricot in this and not FouFoune? Especially since this HAS no apricot - it’s grapefruit!). Taste - grapefruit! Tons of it, bitter, sour, fresh - also some alcohol. Average body, quite acidic, dry, mildly carbonated, with a long lasting grapefruit pith bitter finish. Quite nice to drink.

Bottle [341ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold with a large lasting frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, some herbs, grapefruit and grain. Flavour of grapefruit, other fruit, some herbs and grain and light herbal hops. Medium bodied. A nice refreshing beer, one of their better recent beers.

Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: hazy yellow with a virgin white head. Aroma: slight grapefruit, fresh apple skins, lightly tart. Nice. Flavour: quinine bitterness, a decent amount of carbonation. Good amount of grapefruit, good bitterness and a long grapefruit finish.

Bouteille 341ml.

Interesting idea of making a grapefruit beer. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of both grapefruit or the beer. Received this as a gift, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. Aroma is acidic and what else, grapefruit. Taste is very highly acidic and astringent. Too much for my taste. It was a turnoff. Personally grapefruit is something that doesn’t belong in beer but everything else is being done why not.

(Rating #2524)
