I was surprised by this beer...!
Pours like a typical stout, color-wise, etc., giving me no indication of how different this beer would turn out to be. First surprise: aroma was brighter, fresher, and possibly fruitier than what a stout usually shows me. Surprise #2: when tasted, noticeably less thick than a usual stout. Just like an IPA or something. Final surprise: the taste was that of a stout (torrefied malt, etc.) but just like the aroma hinted at, it was much lighter than the usual fare. This is a black beer without the most commonly reproached aspects: not heavy, not thick, not (too) filling. This is a beer you could drink glass after glass of, without getting tired. It’s like having the stout taste and the IPA mouthfeel/drinkability all-in-one. I could really get to loving this.

Bottle. 4,99$ for 500ml... If it wasn’t so expensive, it could be a regular for me. A bit watery, although obviously pretty malty, that watery impression probably caused by the fruity sourness, that somehow provides a most likeable freshness to this brew. Hopping comes out with conviction, in a citrusy-kindaway (good job on the hopping for this one, guys!). This porter was much too easy too drink and quite enjoyable. I think it’s the first of their beers I enjoy as much.

Bouteille 500 ml. 5.5%. Couleur brun foncé presque noir. Mousse beige. Arôme de malt grillé café et chocolat. Pas trop épaisse en bouche, présence de café et chocolat, Amertume correct en finale. Bonne bière noire.

February 2010 - 500ml bottle shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Clear ruby-black with a large lasting fluffy beige head. Dry aroma of nutshell, cocoa, dry yeast - very much a dry porter on the nose. The taste is again a simple, classic porter - dry, yeasty, mildly alcoholic, mostly just solid roast. Light, almost airy of body, mildly carbonated with a quick finish - there’s a hint of dry acidity bordering on sourness here, but still a solid porter.

Thanks to Blankboy for sharing with HogTownHarry and I. Appearance: Deep dark ruby red with a small tanned head. Aroma: A little lactose, tiniest amount of smoke, a good deal of malt with a little bread and peat. Flavour: Quite smoky at first developing into peat, malt and spice, there’s a good amount of bitterness in this brew. Quite enjoyable and dry.

My bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o JulienHuxley. Pours a very dark brown with deep ruby hues and an average size frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee, fruit and light chocolate. Flavour of light roasted malt, a bit of coffee, nuts and a dry, roasty finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.
