Murky brown pour with lots of floaties and a thin beige head. Aroma of berries and malt. Flavor of berries and malt. The body is light with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but forgetable.

341 ml bottle from Depanneur Peluso, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. A Belgian Ale labelled as “Märzenbier”...huh.

App.: Very, very deep copper-brown with a large tan foam. Aroma: Oddly vegetal and minty, some nuttiness and a bit of caramel and brown sugar, light mulled cider, kinda sweet and herbal, messy. Palate: Medium body and fairly sparse effervescence. Flav.: Oddly vegetal, nutty and vapid, some weird fruit and mint note, a touch of brown sugar, messy, messy, messy; dry with a little bitterness and a strangely watery, messy finish.

In case there’s any doubt, this beer is MESSY.

Seems to be called a Marzen because it is a dark beer with a slightly higher than 5% alcohol. Doesn’t taste like a Marzen at all. Malty, sweet and bland are the descriptive words that come to mind. The ingredients list that it contains sugar and I suspect this does not have a positive effect on the taste.

Lubiere (9999) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 14, 2009
A deep dark brown marzen with a super thick big bubbled moka head. A rather strange aroma of burned caramel and mushed peas, a bit of fruity notes, but not what I expected. In mouth, a rather sweetish and nutty malt, light toasted notes, not bad, but nothing special. Medium bodied.

0.34 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Hazy reddish brown color with thick fluffy head! Sweet, caramelly, berryish, toffeish and slightly soapy aroma with notes of vanilla. Berryish, toasty, yeasty and soapy flavor. Surprisinly, tastes like many danish microbrews (yeasty and berryish).

Bouteille 750ml.

Bottle: Poured a deep caramel color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sugar and some caramel malt. Taste was also over-dominated by sugar with some caramel malt in the background. Sweetness if verging on being gross. Body is full with loads of less and good carbonation. I am not sure what style this is suppose to be but it ain’t really good.

Bottle, thanks to Jesse, at KW tasting. Chestnut brown, thin bubbly beige head. Roasty, slightly sweet aroma. Fizzy body. Odd roasty, minerally, earthy taste. Very dry. Not bad, but certainly hard to describe.
