Light brown with a thin off-white head. Cereal, banana bread, light spice and bubblegum. Slightly sweet, not much bitterness in taste with a malted finish. Average carbonation with a creamy texture, long finish. A little biting. Good and easy drinking.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2014 Pours a lightly hazy golden with a thin white head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of cloves more than anything else but there is still a slight banana bread presence in the background. Taste is of bread or at least sweet cereals, light banana and spices. Body is kind of light and carbonation through the roof although that is part of the style I think. It ends up slightly watery, though, so it might be a little too much maybe. Overall a good weizen, pretty balanced and all.

Cheers!

Bottle from Broue Ha Ha in Gatineau, QC. Pours a cloudy golden, lightly-amber colour with a big frothy white head that stays a long time and gives out creamy lacing. Aromas of nice cereal at first, with the banana, cloves and bubblegum notes piercing after a few minutes. Tastes a little metallic at first with some mild grain lingering in the finish. The banana is mild and the hops used in this one are the only turn-off I have with this. Other than that, refreshing.

Bottle 341ml. Pours hazy dark golden/amber with medium off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma is of bananas, german yeast, bubblegum. Taste is of bananas, bubblegum, some acidity. Palate: Soft-medium carbonation. Light-medium body. Overall: Somewhat refreshing. Not complex. Not overly interesting. Good, but I would not revisit too often.

Pour is a barely-hazy golden with a finger of foamy white cap with no retention or lacing. The nose on this is prototypical: banana, bubblegum, wheat, cloves. Taste follows to a T, with a dry, lemony finish. Body is medium, mouthfeel is slick, carbonation is medium but verging on "lively". Nothing innovative here but this is a nicely executed weizen. (Review of 341ml bottle, brewed by Brasseurs du Nord under supervision of BDT.)

On tap at the brewpub, cloudy honey gold hue, with a small white head, with a light citrus, spicy nose, with a light fruity banana yeast, pale, wheat malt note, with a subtle cinnamon, gingerbread, apple pie, apple sauce, coriander, orange peel accent in the aroma follows through a on medium-bodied palate, with a yeasty, spicy, citrusy, wheaty, pale malty character, with some light banana puréed, faint cinnamon, spritzy gingerbread, mild flowery leafy, grassy, citrus hoppy flavours, leading towards a yeasty, doughy, spicy, zesty, spritzy citrusy, lingering citrus hop bitterness finish.

Le Boullon de la Chaudiere, this 5% weizen is a surprisingly clear light gold with a musty ripee banana nose. The taste was similar to the nose leaving me to conclude "A nice take on a weizen, musty though" alright.
