(9 janvier 2013)

Enjoyed at the pub itself. Poured a dark brown colour with a beige head that gave out dirty lace. Aromas of coffee and dark fruits (prune mostly). Hints of anise eventually come out. Roasted malt taste with raisins, alcohol. The hop is mild, but found all the way giving a very nice light bitterness. Yeast balances everything. A bit light on the mouthfeel, but easy to go down. Found the yeast to be a little too much over the roasted malt, but decent dark fruits all-around.

Black-brown with a bit of white head. Smell is a bit of sweet malt with some roasted chocolate. Palate is medium-light with some soft carbonation. Taste is bitter at first then you get a bit of roasted taste and a long bitter aftertaste.

On tap at the brewpub. Jet black pour, small mocha head. Great sweet roasted almost burnt malt aroma, with some nice coffee, and cocoa notes. Soft carb, very full mouthfeel, super nice on the palate. The finish is high on the bitterness, and the sweetness is very welcome and compliments great. Solid cocoa, espresso notes in the finish, with a touch of brown sugar. Great stout.

Pale brown, rather un-stoutlike. Toasty and a lottle bit nutty. Light body w some thin sugars giving way to perhaps some off-flavours.

Draft at brewpub. Looks not like a stout, but has a nice deep brown with reddish tint. Cocoa and carob on the thin aroma. Nice roasted malts, chocolate malts. Soft palate. Not bad as a brown ale, but isnt stouty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample tray. Dark beer looks thick even in sample glass. Strong aroma of malt, bitter chocolate and coffee. Body was thinner than expected but flavour was better than expected with depth and flavour running though finish and aftertaste. Very good and only 5%. Every time you try and isolate a coffee or chocolate malt flavour another aspect jumps out.
