| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Pours a very deep ruby, looks almost black, with an average size diminishing creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt alongw ith some coffee, dark chocolate and a hint of green hops. Very tasty flavour follows the aroma and adds a hint of peat and a dry, bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel, average body. A great Stout! jerc (3966), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 19, 2009 2009-11-17. Very dark brown not quite black body with a modest creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasty with an unexpected bready note, light touch of something else I could not define, not quite ashen but in that realm. Flavour is predominantly bitter and ashen roast, light undercurrent of coffee grounds. Average palate is smooth but light for a stout. Okay I guess, but very much not to my taste. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Draught. At the brewpub. Deep clear ruby-black with an average lasting creamy tan head. Dry aroma, deep roast coffee with a hint of treacle and olive. Dry, peaty deep roast flavour - again coffee, not much alcohol - some mild floral bitterness and a salty hint of black olive. Average body, slightly acidic/tart, dry and only modestly carbonated - another nice beer from these folks. Eructoblaster (1510), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 25, 2009 On tap et the brewpub. Opaque black body with low carbonation and a decent, lasting brown frothy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with light chocolate and roasted cereals hints. Well balanced taste that carries roasty and coffeeish notes. Ends with a good bitter/roasty finish. Well done. MartinT (5080), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This untypical Dark Ale develops chocolate, tobacco, lightly roasted and caramelized cereals for a drinkable pint.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the brownish black with mahogany edges.
-Most Brasseurs du Temps brews are not BJCP-driven styles. Dominique’s creations all have their own personalities which stray away from the usual stylistic guidelines.
-I admit this was not my favorite of the bunch, but I have to say this was as professionally brewed as all Brasseurs du Temps beers. I guess its recipe was simply not compelling to me.
-Once again, the malts are superbly extracted in this BdT brew.

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 18, 2009 I’m not a big fan of coffee so stouts are kind of lost on me. But this had a good taste of chocolate and coffee. I could see how this could be a good beer.
