Cet aspect me plaît bien.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2012 Sample tray rerate. I’m not big into retrates but the aroma alone demanded it. Strong enchanting spicy nose. Flavour matches nose as before but instead of imperfection I get warm caramel and alcohol underneath. Bottle. Big thick foam on dark copper. Warm spice nose with light booziness. Tastes the same with more booze. Seems a little flat in character with a hint of an imperfection underneath.

Pours a cloudy, bronze hue topped with a foamy light tan head; nice cresting of lace around the glass. Aroma is invitingly fresh and incorporates notes of resin, cereals, and caramelized sugar. In the mouth, abruptly bitter and floral hops vie for attention against caramel malts, gradually tapering down and making headway for light candied apricot and bitter orange peel. Just a faint trace of heat and astringency lingering after each sip. Very foamy and smooth on the palate, owing to a prominent and pillowy carbonation. I liked this one.

On tap at the Ottawa Wine and Food show. Not all that familiar with Barley Wines. From what I gather this would be an excellent candidate for cellaring. Sweet and fruity flavours but with a boozy backbone that reminds you that this aint no pussy cat.

From tap at La Succursale. Pours amber with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and slight caramelish. Toasted malty and caramelish. Smooth malty and quite bitter. Ends dry, roasted dense malty and alcohol. Lasting bitter impression.

On tap at Le bateau de nuit. Orange-brown color with subtle herbals aromas. Bitter taste up front of hops and little barley taste. Difficult to find alcoholic taste in this beer even with a 9% ABV. A good barley wine, only not my type. (Rating # 9)

Glass, on tap at Braise et Houblon brewpub. Light orange color with a big white head. Sweet roma of caramel and roasted malts & barley, candied oranges are also really dominant in aroma & taste. Alcohol is noticeable but is blending well with the overall taste. A good and well balanced barley wine!

Drank on tap (13 oz) at Braise et Houblon (Laval), Quebec), on April 5, 2011. Red mahogany, small head. Aroma of raw barley but sweet, nutty notes. Slightly sweet taste of barley, very dry and bitter, not very malty, little sensation of alcohol. Not bad, but I feel there is a problem with the tap line!
