Beautiful amber color. The aroma is mature, but there are also traces of wood, plastic and alcohol; very light Sherry too. The body is thinner than most French Meads; it’s quite dry, even if the mouthfeel is soft; the flavor is not impressive, instead there is an evident and pervasive oxidisation. The final is quite short, with some liquorice. Not very good.

Hydromel produced in Bretagne (probably by Lozachmeur) using honey from Lafontaine.

2/10 From a sample fiulijn gave to Marko and he shared it, thanks both of them! It had dark reddish brown body with medium sized legs. Nice but weak honey aroma, similarly weak flavor. Definitely not too sweet, rather nice dryer honey and caramelly. Medium bodied with longer, very slightly warming finish. I would put their two meads I tried in the same quality category, medium, although I reckon I liked the sweeter version more.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a clear amber. Some honey and wood in the nose. Medium body, dry, woody, somewhat oxidized, spicy with only a light trace of Honey. Pretty much like a dry Sherry actually. 261010

Bottled. An amber mead. The aroma has notes of honey, flowers, and some spices. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of alcohol, and medium notes of carbondioxide, honey, and herbs, leading to a dry finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Another one from fiulijn who decanted it for me (huge thanks!). Poured a coppery-bronze amber body, dark for a mead. Honey, yeast and maybe light alcohol in the nose. Dry, acidic(!) mead with some scant flowery honeyish notes. Caramel too. Eh, interesting but overfermented in my opinion. Drinkable though.
