robinvboyer (1071), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2008 750ml bottle. Really nice bright golden pour, with a full white head. Aroma is loaded with sweet bready malt. Super nice stuff, i love the sweet bready, yeasty, chewy malts in the aroma. Flavour is again, is sweet malt, but again, very bready, and quite subtle. No alcohol to speak of, and very very drinkable for an 8% beer. I thoroughly enjoyed this! Flamojune (56), Québec, Quebec, Canada Sep 4, 2008 Belle blonde forte 8%. L’alcool se fait sentir mais la finale reste agréable. A découvrir. french tickler (518), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Oct 25, 2007 Clear golden poor with an off-white frothy head. Aromas of maple sap, candy sugar, corn, unripenned bananas, honey, brown sugar... Interesting aromas. Full bodied brew with good effervescence. You can barely feel the 8%. Nice hoppy finish and great balance between bitter and sweet. I just cant seem to pinpoint that special something in the aromas and flavors. Overall, very good! Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 25, 2007 Clear straw shade over which the initial white head does not manage to last much, but leaves a few traces upon the glass. Rather profound malt nose boasting powerful honey nose that are paired with soft and aromatic grassy hops. Gentle, well extracted grains do leave a considerable residual sugars concentration, the whole of which translatates into a rather full bodied lager with the casual alcohol peak, but its round, yet almost foamy palate and general cleanliness ensures great drinkability. Well, it would be tough to do much better, though my favourite examples of the style tended to be even more drinkable, a bit drier and massively aromatic, crispier. My Bottom Line:
Restrained honey and crushed grain sweetness sit in an extremely clean, effervescent body where herbal hops timidly rise. This is a fine, diplomatic Heller Bock which may lack the rurality and flavor extroversion necessary to take it near the Franconian examples.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A full ring of foam quickly thickens when swirled atop the clear golden.
-This is again a reminder that Heller Bocks are closely related to the Czech svetlé specialni sub-style.
-A subtle peppery finish is imparted by the quiet noble hops.
-This beer’s strength is perceptible through its squeaky cleanliness, yet no alcohol bothers.
-A more expressive hoppiness and crunchier maltiness would make this a beautiful example of the style, imho. 3.2/5
Bottled version; happily downed at home:
A towering foam lingers atop my Spezial-Bräu mug, crowning the clear golden. Honeyed hay maltiness balances out the well-positioned herbal hops, all in a big-bubbled effervescence. Perilously drinkable with its subtle flavor profile and lean body, this is a version I enjoyed more than the first tap attempt. The alcohol warming doesn’t bother at all, but this remains a very dangerous session beer at 8%...3.6/5
