750 ml bottle bought at at Les Marchants de la Bière in Sainte-Thérèse (Quebec) on July 9, 2014. Black, small beige head. Cherries infused chocolate, quite sweet with alcohol notes. Sweet and sour cherries, chocolate nougat taste, not too much alcohol, nice dry fruity aftertaste. This is the closest thing to a fine red wine!

[Cask at ’Cask Days 2014’] Pours a very dark reddish-brown, almost black, with a small lasting bubbly beige head. Boozy, quite fruity aroma along with some tartness, a hint of chocolate, brown sugar and light hops. Flavour of sour fruit, dark fruit, alcohol and chocolate. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good though it doesn’t blow me away -- still, it’s an enjoyable beer.

Arôme sublime. Tout juste assez épicée en bouche. Alcool présent dans être agressif. Ma définition d’une bière parfaite.

Cask days 2014. Lots of dark, boozy cherries with a serious amount if funk. The funk, is tart, and really brings out the cherries, but there is also a solid amount of great roasty, almost burnt malts. Slight coffee, and cocoa notes. It’s like a dark roasty coffee with tart cherries added. Alcohol warms near the end, and the funk fades to a more sweet cherry pie with coffee note. Nice stuff!

At Cask Days 2014. Rich chocolate brownie and cherry jam character, tart and sour notes. Quite delicious imperial blakc kriek despite a strange milky aftertaste.

2014-10-24. Very dark brown body with a tiny brown head and lace. 3+ Aroma of sweet dark malt, red wine, light alcohol. Hints at cocoa, maybe? Average plus bodied palate, very soft carbonation. Flavour is interesting, with a vinous cherry like fruit character throughout, light chocolate notes, moderate alcohol presence. Decent but a big one - possibly not the best choice to start me off! On cask at Cask Days, Toronto.

bottle shared by/with friends. pours unclear medium dark brown-reddish with a small light beige head showing minimal retention and lacing. roasted malt sweetness, chocolate-covered cherries, spicy cinnamon cherries, other spices - dill, onions, pepper; almost leathery bretts, plastered band-aid fruitiness, oaky vanilla, booze - warming and a bit overwhelming, light acidity - not enough to cut through these sugars. light carbonation, medium body - oily, very lightly tart, very astringent and tannic spicy finish. unbalanced but i’m still digging it.
