Bottle @ Moving day tasting. Providers bias. Pours weak blackish with a fizzy head. Notes of weak cherries, coca cola, tannins, fizzy and some roast. A bit over carbonated.

Bottle thanks to Bursprak. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of cow shit, stable, dark cherries, leather, ammoniac, sulfur, balsamic, vinegar and nail polish. The taste has lots of carbonation first of all. And with taste-notes of sulfur, vinegar, balsamic, dusty cellar, cherries, bitternes, nail polish and slight medicine. A bit too heavy and intense to really be enjoyed. But still alright.

Another win from 3 Mouz. Pours a thin, brown frothy head atop a deep brown body. Nose of tart cherries and chocolate. Flavour of balsamic, cherry and leather. Very likeable.

Aroma is tart, funk, vinegar and plum. Taste is dark cherry , vinegar and currin. Some funk and sourness that is overall well balanced. Appearance is a murky orange and amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Bottle thanks to bursprak. Pours a Dark reddish brown with a huge, fizzy, off White head. Aroma has light balsamic notes, leathery funk, ammoniac, very dry with lots of sulfur-funky stuff. Tanic. Taste is extremely dry, slight boozy, light sweetness and some acidity, but lacking some fruit and some tartness for my taste. Taste is disturbed by an extremely High carbonation. Texture is rather light, although the beer is slightly boozy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: hazy, nearly murky deep amber-brown with one finger of light beige head, excellent retention and patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: dark cherries, chocolate, woody, yeast, light vanilla. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate tart, light bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry tart finish. (4/5) First time I’ve ever had a beer that called itself an “Imperial Kriek”. Reminiscent of Black Forest Cake, with a little funky wood in the finish. Alcohol is nearly non-existent, which is a little surprising given the double digit ABV. Another decent Belgian from Quebec. (16/20)

Oh dear, a new world Kriek. That’s, like, the worst thing in the world or perhaps a really good thing in the world. I had tried a number of new world sours lately and most of them sucked serious donkey balls, but kudos to them for trying. And then there was that Flemish sour I tried back in Vancouver in early January.... suddenly, things are happening on this front. It is nice to know, at least, that the brewers popping up all over the new world are studying the old, thinking about what made them great. So I gets me this bouteille from downs in Edmonchuck a week or twos back and given my love of Montreal and Kriek and strong beer it’s one of the first on the chopping block. June 2014 edition for what it’s worth. Cork off, this has good head and a very dark-brown body with no carbonation to be seen. The aroma is near perfect with hints of the barrel they aged it in, the sweet fruit kriek notes and of course the "proper" Belgian yeast that binds it all together. Also coffee, baker’s chocolate, strawberries. Good stuff there. The flavour is a sweet cherry chocolate affair. Really good notes of kriek and fruity sweetness in there, overpowered by barley and new world style coffeee-chocolate notes. Alcohol is invisible. I am impressed and this is indeed a brilliant brew, but I see how it could really be more. A bit more finesse and this could be an honest five. Still I ain’t got no regrets, sunday won’t remember saturday after this and that’s just fine with me.

750ml corked bottle pours a dark amber, almost black color with a generous off-white head that laves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark cherries and yeast with some chocolate and note of wood. Taste is a modest cherry tartness with a light chocolate malty sweetness and light hop bitterness finishing with a dry woodiness. Overall, this brew is more complex than my palate allows me to describe. A very well crafted brew that must be sampled.
