GreatLibations (1241), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Nov 26, 2007 Pours a clear, golden honey color w/ a tall fluffy froth. Good head retention w/ excelent lacework consisting of sticky track marks, a full fluffy ring and a downy canopy. Aromas of fresh squeezed tropical fruit, aged citrus, banana jerkey, and milk. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers creatng a nice cotton soft texture. Malty citrus fruit balanced by a sturdy peachpit bittering component. Flavors of nectarine, peach, citrus, leather, earth, leafy veggies and herbs, and spicey corriander w/ a twitch of tart. Theres a defined bratty hop that factors in. It’s keeps coming at you even after you walk away from it. The finish is bittered perfectly and I want more, more, more. This brew rocks! Highly recommended. acertain (249), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 10, 2007 Thanks to hogfodder to the bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a thin white head. Aroma is of bananas, but not as much as a typical weizen, with other good hoppy aromas. In the mouth, it’s very malty, in a unique way. pootzboy (855), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Sep 15, 2006 Updated: Sep 17, 2006Bottle:
Poured a a clouded, spritzy amber ale with a large fluffy cap into my weizen glass....modest retention on the cap but it reduces to a surface lace that clings to the glass. Decent effervescence appears to be natural from bottle conditioning
Definitive aromas of ripe bananas, musty-yeasty bread and woody hops ( very nice!)
Rich malted wheat backbone, creamy mouth feel, medium bodied and bready-fruity in character
Rich mouthfull of non-cloying banana bread up front...absolutely glorious!...layered tones of spice ( clove, cinnamon) and delicate fruits in the middle fuse with wonderful herbal/woody Franconian noble hopping.... lightly drying in the finish which is punctuated with bubblegum-salted taffy tones mixed with medicinal bittering.....bready after taste. This is a brewed nectar that hides its substantial alcohol almost completely.
I love this more substantial weizen!!! Probably the best brew from this brewer and certainly a brew that cinches them as my favorite Quebec micro brewer. ShawnMalloy (109), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA Apr 8, 2008 Pours a very dark golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of apricots, mango, and other various light fruits. Contains a decent amount of carbonation. Taste is medium hopped with a citrus fruit inspired finish. DocLock (4047), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Turbid deep golden/orangy pour with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma is tangerine, clovey spices, hops, bready malt, floral notes, and orange marmalade. Tastes citric, spicy, floral, with mid-palate apricotty notes, plus some late honey and funky notes. Fairly rich, and solidly complex, palate, make this one a diamond in the rough. Very well hidden alcohol also.
