Aroma has roasted maltiness, some ash, hints of vegetables and chocolate. Milky-sour flavor with ashes and roasted coffee. Medium body, lowish carbonation. Might get better points if it wasn’t 1 AM and if I didn’t have about 25 beers before this. bedainedebiere (285), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Updated: Oct 16, 20098,99$ up to 10,99$ in Québec, for 750 ml bottle. Very good strong porter, not too sweet although very malty, obvious hop dryness, notes of dried fruit, wood and others, with a lasting bitter coffee aftertaste. The alchool is surprisingly hidden and it is all well balanced. ADDED: The new 2009 batch seems even better and more complex than the brews I had in the past years although I have never been disppointed with it. This might be the best brew from this great brewer, with its rich and full bodied texture, its complexity in the fruity, slighlty sweet chocolate, woody, even a little smokey taste and its obvious production qualities. Really good beer. presario (2959), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Big bottle "Fall 2008". Big pop! 80% foam in the glass looks like a block of brown styrofoam. Head doesn’t sink so much as it becomes porous. Black liquid. Big dark chocolate aroma. A strong sweetness in the first few sips. Big bitter chocolate. Alcohol blends right in. Hints of licorice. Lots of chocolate turns to more of a cocoa note in the finish. Sammy (3993), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 Pours black with dark head. Taste is licorice, a little sourness. Solid porter with above average mouthfeel. Carbonation is apparent. Drinkable stuff, though not exceptional baltic porter. Fred82 (386), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Flavors are excellent with lots of licorice adding the sweetness, natural cocoa, remaining brilliantly fruity throughout. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
