Nice tan head with used motor oil pour. FlVors of smoke and cherry come through in the nose. Very little smoke from the malts. Initial taste is tart cherry into choclate and coffee charry finish. Overall really nice but I would really like to see this aged in or with virgin oak barrels/chips for the price.

Au festival de chambly, robe noire et petite mousse moka, arôme de torréfaction et de houblon, goût de café à la vanille et de houblons. Très bonne mais je préfère l’original!

Bottle shared by Jay at tasting at my house. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of bourbon, dark roasted coffee, roasted dark chocolate malts, vanilla and fudge brownies. Some oak. Medium body. Well balanced. One of the better beers of the night.

Bottle courtesy of Dany that I took to a tasting at James’s place. Pours a deep black with a thin to medium sized dense tan head. Soft bourbon and wood on the nose, toast and roast, cocoa and chocolate. Cocoa, warm bourbon, roast and wood. Lovely chocolate and warm brownies and bourbon. Very nice. Remarkably smooth.

(750ml bottle) clear deep brown, fine tan bubbles. Nose is smoky, dark raisins, toasty, brown sugar, lightly mossy. Taste is very smoky, sweet Brown sugar, almost syrupy. Medium body, a bit worcestshire like.

Bottle shared at the harvest festival and another strange one but in a pretty good way. The barrel characteristics were very light with small bourbon and vanilla notes. The dry hopping made this weird i think. Citrus and dank grass fight a bit with the roasty chocolate notes.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 Bottle (750 ml) shared at Hill Farmstead Harvest Festival - 2011. Dark brown with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma of Citra hops, bourbon, wood and hints of the complex aroma of the regular beer (chocolate, liquorice, raisins, roasted malt and list goes on). Taste is acidic and citrusy with light notes of bourbon, vanilla, wood, raisins, roasted malt and chocolate. Low carbonation. The regular version of the beer is heavier than this one. This beer is definitely complex but I’m not convinced about the balance. Bourbon isn’t that much present and the Citra dry-hop completely change the beer, maybe not for the best. I prefer the regular version of the beer but it’s still a very good one.

hill farmstead bottle share, the barrel aging here did a great job, tons of vanilla and bourbon flavors, the porter holds up well.
